Linux:

@StevieT coverage maps reflect outdoor coverage up the road side

No coverage showing near my street - but that may be because the map is yet to reflect this.

StevieT:

Fibocom suggesting running an AT command: "AT+COPS=0".

Anyone know how this can be run in Windows? Command prompt (as administrator) or somewhere else?

Do you know how I'd find out the virtual COM port of the adapter? Device manager has one item listed under Ports (COM & LPT) which I don't think is the 5G module, and for the Intel 5G Solution (for location) I get "PCI Slot 5 (PCI bus 91, device 0, function 0)".

PuTTY is installed.

What I’ve noticed with Spark’s rollout of 5g in my area (and other 5g areas), is that my phone (that’s set to 4G) went from constantly sitting comfortably on band 7, to now sitting between bands 28 and 3 - with the very occasional band 7 popping back (with less bars). I’m assuming Spark is reframing higher 4G bands/frequencies to 5g, or somehow making 4G less attractive to the device so it prefers 5g? Either way, just an observation.

Anyway, I just hope that when their 5g rollout is at full steam (especially when 850mhz becomes available) that we don’t see their 4G network head the same way as the current 3g network - which is non-existent for anything other than the odd voice call.

@Aucklandjafa 4G at edge of cell is 100 x better than 3G at edge of cell coverage

It’s not even edge of cell coverage, I can have full bars of coverage on 3G (usually when in a car - thanks iPhones) and the data is non-existent. There are only a few odd sites where 3G is usable - regardless of coverage.

@Aucklandjafa So 3G capacity / channel elements are just non-existent
