As long as I can upgrade my Samsung "Envy" M510, which has stupidly broken texting, to a non-WinMo Sony Ericsson of some form (like the W950 or W760), then I'll be happy. The UI on the Samsungs (if this model is anything to go by) is awful, and I don't like Symbian much better unless they've made it way less convoluted than the N95's UI. I just switched back to Telecom after having ditched them years ago due to their terrible phone selection, looking forward to being able to hopefully use a decent phone on their network. My trusty SE W900 was almost perfect, maybe a Palm Pre will be a worthy successor - as long as it has a flash I can use as a torch! ;)

I noticed the local telecom shop in Hamilton (Centreplace Mall) has a wall blocking the entrance, so theyre obviously refitting the shop i suppose to get ready for the new network launch.

I have a feeling Telecom will launch the new WCDMA network before the end of May.

Cant wait! I hope though they bring in some decent mobile broadband plans. I like the new prepay mobile broadband pricing by Vodafone. C'mon Telecom, give your mobile broadband customers some decent pricing.

They had kicked the staff of the telecom shop at st lukes to a pathetic little counter outside while they were putting in a new shop. The body shop moved into the old telecom one and they put a wall infront of the old body shop. When I was last there a while back the door was open and the shop looked finished, but when I pulled the phone out to snap some pics someone shut the door. Damnit..

St Lukes has been open since late last month (could have been early this month).

Have a look when you get a chance.

Northlands and Riccarton down Christchurch are also complete.

Sony Ericsson W995a in the new TV ad. Looks like direct competition for the Nokia N96, so it'll be a pricey wee beast.

Yikes, just did a YouTube search to see the UI in action. Looks awful!! :-(

w995a isn't a smartphone unlike the n96

Its pretty much a W705 with a 8mp shooter!

Handsets i would like to see on launch with these prices.....  Nokia 5800 (650-750), Touch HD or Diamond2 (999), E71 (799), N85 (799), W705 (599), Nokia 5710 (399), Nokia 5320 (299), W760 (299)

...... I can only dream!

Looks like a regular SE UI. If you don't like the theme you can make your own if you're artistically inclined, odds are it's compatibile with some existing ones though.

I had heard something about N97 being available, thats what I am hoping for anyway - otherwise a 5800 would do for now...

Looks like there won't be diamond2 850mhz and touch pro2 850mhz. So, do you think telecom will sell touch pro1? Otherwise I wanna just buy a AT&T fuze....

What should I do? Should I wait? Or just get the fuze now?

Wait. Why the hurry? Telecom said they have new handsets to be announced, some to be first release in the world.

I really doubt that telecom will have some newest phone in the world. Newer than what telstra has?

Considering unlocked AT&T fuze, will the phone stay unlocked if I modify the firmwire?

Well then, it's a battle between your doubts and whether Telecom's telling the truth :)

Its going to be really interesting to see what price point the new telecom phones are. After having alook at Gsm Arena last night the majourity of handsets seem to be feature rich and will likely carry a decent retail price. I realy hope we see some good plans with decent phone discounts for signing onto a contract.... I guess time will tell :)

This is what I based the post on...
