Anyone read the fine print?

Looks to me like they want to lock you in for 12 months for BB and home phone calling... "all we ask is that you keep your great value broadband and home calling with us to work alongside your treat for the next 12 months"

Penalties for disconnecting perhaps?

I wonder if anyone who has got one of these is on a fixed plan, or are they people that can leave anytime they want, therefore Telecom are trying to lock in more customers?

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

The wording at the bottom of the email is a bit wishy washy:

Things you should know
To continue enjoying your chosen treat you will need to keep your Broadband and home calling with Telecom for the next 12 months.

Double broadband data
Broadband terms and conditions apply and if you reach your data cap your usual plan rules will apply. After the 12 month period your broadband plan will revert to it's usual data allowance.

I usually read T&C's throughly and don't remember agreeing to another contract term when I took up this offer, will inquire further.

Edit: Woohoo #400000 GZ post!

That sounds like it means if you leave Telecom then come back, you won't have your treat anymore.

I'm on adventure plan/ any time line rental/Talk it up downunder, and did not get the offer.

One of the choices is free Aussie calls , which I already have. Perhaps, I do not qualify because I already have free Aussie calls.

I called telecom yesterday and asked them why I do not qualify, they say they will call me back. I wonder if they will?

I'm on Total Home pro with extra features pack, didn't receive it :(

Oh well, my contract expired last month, so won't resign with them yet, the wife wants to go overseas late next year and don't think she'll let me lock in another year with Telecom

How is that wishy washy, sound exactly like you get this deal in exchange for being on standard 12 month contract with normal disconnection fee

Check again because retention offers like this always involve going on contract for 12 or 24 months.

No.

If it said "To enjoy your chosen treat you will need to..."

They put the word "continue" in there.  That makes a big difference as it suggests there is a way out.

The way it is worded, would suggest there is no contract involved, and no obligation to remain with them for the entire term. It would have to clearly state that it required a 12 month contract had to be signed in order to qualify for the deals. It is vague and lacking details.

The way I read it is that if I were to say change my calling away from Telecom during the 12 months I would lose the bonus addon. I may well be wrong and it is a 12 month contract, either way I'm not worried as I have no plans to switch providers. I'm trying to find the confirmation email to see what it says.

yeh if you read it, it says "no extra to pay, nothing to sign", so they are legally obliged to go with this.

Sure hope I get this letter myself, I would be super keen to re-sign if I got double data, between my Telecom Mobile, Landline, Broadband and Mobile Broaband I am paying between $350 and $500 a month.  I am out of my contract period on three of those services and would be nice to be dangled such an incentive.

So its like making people WANT to stay rather than forcing them to with a contract?
