I saw someone on Facebook mention they got a letter from Telecom today, saying thanks for being with us for so long, and to choose one of 3 Christmas presents. One was double data for a year.

Has anyone else had this? Hopefully it's for real :)

Apparently the other two options were free calling between your home phone and a nominated cell phone for a year, or next to nothing calling to any national landlines and in Australia.

Pretty impressive options!

Got this letter middle of October and opted for the double data which was setup the very next day. It is genuine. All last for 12 months and will not auto-renew.

Been with Telecom for years, this possibly would have us stay with Telecom as about to request a change to another provider.

Never received any letter, and tried details on the treat website, but says invalid phone number.

Looks like they don't wish to keep our business...

Is this a limited offer only to a select few customers, and how are customers selected to receive this offer?

Just for info, I haven't received the letter and the website wouldn't accept my account and phone number so looks like it's a targeted offer

Yep, definitely a targeted offer. Would be interested to know what it would take to be eligible. We only spend around $180 per month with Telecom, so maybe it needs to be a $200+ per month spend?

Must be some eligibility criteria..

I hope they target me, my feet are getting itchy with the current regular plans.

Strange, I've been with them on ADSL since 2003 , not on contract, and bill paid all the time.

This is the type of offer that pisses off good customers who don't qualify for some reason.

From the wording of the letter, if you don't qualify for the offer then by default you are a bad customer.

Even more reason for me to take my $180 per month elsewhere.

We have been looking at other providers anyway, but such an offer may have been the deal breaker for us to stay with Telecom and avoid the hassle of changing. Not really any reason to stay otherwise.

I've been with Telecom since we moved back from Australia at the end of 2004. Bills always paid on time, and I don't qualify either, according to that website. Its a shame, as I could really do with a bumping of my datacap. On the 20GB plan now, and I exceed that most months. If the US dollar wasn't giving me such a rough go of it (I get paid in USD as I contract to an American company), I'd look at upping the plan, but alas thats not an option right now.

I was approached about 6 months ago with an offer to double my data cap if I signed a contract, but at the time I wasn't regularly exceeding my cap so I passed on the offer. Been regretting it ever since. I even rang them up asking if they could do that, but they stated they couldn't as it would be anti-competitive (WTF?).

Checked our account number and phone number on there, we too are not elligable. We spend $130+ each month. Even brought a TiVo from them. I'll call them up later and see what they say. This is going to make a lot of customers very angry because this will make them feel their custom is unwanted/unworthy to Telecom
