Nobody can help you if you're just going to post a speed tets and not provide any further information.

What steps have you taken to establish the cause of your issue? Have you checked the obvious to see whether you're in the process of being cabinetised?

If you have noticed an overnight drop in your sync rate you could well be suffering from midspan injection issues if you're in the middle of a cabinet changeover. The Telecom Wholesale maps site will clear this up for you. If you're not you'll probably want to start by looking at your wiring as the high upload rate indicates a noise issue primararily affecting the downstream.

"Cabinetisation" is Chorus' FTTN project installing over 3500 roadside cabinets nationwide to deliver faster speeds to the majority of homes in NZ. By installing the ISAM (the piece of equipment that your DSL modem connects to) in the cabinet to which will now typically be within 2km of your home it means the majority of homes will have DSL rates of around 14Mbps minimum, with many up to 18Mbps.

Thanks. Seems I'm right on the edge of an orange area. The blurb says "This address is in an exchange area where the exchange is scheduled to be upgraded with faster broadband equipment by Dec 2011."

Speed used to be OK though. Not super fast, but fast enough for me.

Sounds like other areas around you may have been cabinetised recently which means they get faster speeds being closer to the exchange, but in turn that creates more "noise" on your line at the outer edges of the coverage zone, thus slower speeds. The upgrade in Dec 2011 will prob mean that it becomes worse.

PM me or most others on this thread your address and we can look up more detail. There are also things you can do to check/improve your situation, many are covered on the Telecom Wholesale or Chorus sites. eg: Remove all items off your line except your modem (eg: Phones, faxes and all other equipment on other sockets) AND remove extension cords, double adapters etc on the line to your modem. If there is an improvement you can isolate a device that is causing interference. ALSO ensure you have a central splitter at the entry point of your phone line that has a direct isolated line to your modem on the fatter blue cat5e cable which can handle higher speeds. There are also Modems that work better than others on the Chorus DSL Network. Post us or call Telecom for options. This enables an improvemnet of slow speeds and sets you up for higher speeds if/when you are cabinetised via FTTN or RBI (Rural Broadband Initiative).

Thanks for your PM. So if you don't mind me saying you're on the very northern/central limit of the Pukekohe exchange (~8km from exchange). No changes recently from a Chorus netwok perspective. But alot (almost all) coming up in December = worse for you. The items I've mentioned to improve your local network are still relevant.

There is an RBI cabinet coming out in Y3/Q2 - end 2013??? (PUK/AL - Scenic Reserve) which is 3km to you, so will be alot better than PUK/Exchange. Or there may be Mobile Broadband options now or in the future.

You've also said you're on the a Dialup speed on cap plan, so as I've said you should double check you haven't exceeded your limit. But prob not the issue.

Feel free to respond publicly with as much info as you are comfortable with to illeviative your issue. If you publish your modem connection stats that may help. But you are probably out of options apart from waiting and making your home network as good as possible.

Is that for all ADSL2+ exchanges highlighted for that date? .. is there an approximate date for the Maungaturoto area to be cabinetized, do you know? .. I have the TC's exact problem. after the run around I did get the email from Telecom that the exchange upgrade coming "soon" should fix these lag issues, which i presume is just exchange overload on poor adsl1 equipment. unlike the TC i haven't had the chance to see the switch over to adsl2 for a hopeful fix. I don't want to wait another year with lag. I've also purchased a NB6PLUS4Wn & new adsl filter. game pings are still up & down from 9 a.m to around 10-11 p.m. then they're perfectly normal again & DL speed actually manages to reach max. then it's all rinse & repeat.

1) Check the telecomwholesale bb availability map for any fttn cabinets coming up in your area.
2) Check the chorus site for RBI sites coming up. You can translate the site coordinates via linz.
