The problem with Citylink is that if the ISP doesn't peer at WIX then you'll go via America

I was at NZ Couriers yesterday and got 80 down 30 up. Still trying to crack the elusive 100mbit down :(

I'm not completely sure this is true. I am on Telecom NZ here... 33ms doesn't sound like it's going via the US...

It's a nexus 5 so I believe its a cat4

I'm not completely sure this is true. I am on Telecom NZ here... 33ms doesn't sound like it's going via the US...

From memory Telecom route to Citylink via FX networks now so doesn't go via US

Not sure why the speed is slower now though

JarrodM: Was at the all whites game last night tried uploading the obligatory Instagram post on 3G and it failed every time, so I turned on 4G and bam it went first time.

Probably due to 10000 other people trying to do similar on 3G at the same time as you.
Hopefully there will be 5G by the time everybody is using 4G.

As a side note, still waiting for HTC One official update to get 4G properly, pinning hopes on a 4.3 update at the same time.


Hopes have been answered. 4G activation is wrapped up in the update to Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5.

Anyone know what LTE UE Cat the iPad mini (A1455) is? 

Best results I've had are 54.7Mbps D/L and 19.07Mbps U/L

Sitting with 5 bars of LTE on The Terrace, the 54Mbps down on the morning of the network launch.

Latest test 36ms, 37Mbps D/L and 17.76 Mbps U/L

Just tried (one of) the TNZ AKL server(s) instead of the TNZ WGN, almost identical results

49ms, 35.68 Mbps D/L, 15.39 Mbps U/L

I should add that I'm getting 3 bars of LTE in Kilbirnie, where I live - which was a pleasant surprise. The Coutts St Cell site perhaps one of those upgraded!

Thanks Gajan, What's the 'production network' rather than model results like from the DTR guys? Cat 3 about the ~50Mbps, Cat 4 closer to ~100Mbps? 

I've seen a 97 Mbps D/L and 26 Mbps U/L on an iPhone 5S in Brandon St, I assume the 5S a Cat 4 device?

iPhone 5 and 5s are CAT3


Cat3 devices can reach speeds of up to 100Mbps quite easily depending on a few things
