Thanks Gajan, What's the 'production network' rather than model results like from the DTR guys? Cat 3 about the ~50Mbps, Cat 4 closer to ~100Mbps?

I've seen a 97 Mbps D/L and 26 Mbps U/L on an iPhone 5S in Brandon St, I assume the 5S a Cat 4 device?

iPhone 5 and 5s are CAT3

Cat3 devices can reach speeds of up to 100Mbps quite easily depending on a few things

Interesting, so far been unable to squeeze much more than ~50Mbps out of the iPad Mini (A1455), numerous tests (on TNZ WGN server), good signal, various times of the day, since network launch.

I'll check with my colleagues in the AM about what speeds they've been getting on the iPad Mini.

They've seen 97M DL! on an iPad Mini - so it is capable.

I finally got round to requesting a 4G sim online and hit validation: "The phone number you have provided is either invalid or ineligible for 4g." I know the device is supported and the number is valid, so what does "ineligible for 4g" mean?

A time-poor geek is hardly a geek at all

Did mine online too, and nothing, Im assuming it's because Hamilton isn't on the radar yet. Popped into the store and done in 5 minutes.

Just been told Wellington coverage has now been extended in Newtown and the Miramar Peninsula (as well as the CBD and Lower Hutt coverage at launch) and in Christchurch it is now extended beyond the ‘heart’ of the city north to Papanui, west to Avonhead and south to Hornby and Halswell.

I got a software update on the vodafone softwared phone last week and it had broken the menu for the LTE enabler, but it still has 4g.

I dont want to go into the stock menu in case it re-writes the settings to only be 3g again.

I have CSC N9005VNZDMJ4 now - CP N9005XXUDMJ7 and AP N9005XXUDMJ7

Anyone else have those on their note 3 and gone into the menu to toggle 4g and found the option working on telecom?

Yes and it worked sweetas on 4g with that app to open the menu to change it.

as far as i understand it you need the Telecom software. I recall posts earlier in this thread about flashing the stock telecom Rom througb odin. As it stands you won't get the update that enables 4G

Hi @schmichael

The short answer is I don't know the details of why, but as @Jeffnz says, you need to update to their firmware. Same thing happened to me with a 'non-Telecom' S4.

I flashed my phone to the Telecom firmware. Here are the instructions I followed:

Go to the bottom of the page and follow @michaelmurfy's instructions. The steps are quite clear and work. Get Odin and the firmware from his links.

Couple things:

1. You'll be doing a factory reset, so you have to Back Up Everything. You'll basically have a new phone when finished.

2. You might want to read up on the Knox boot loader before you do this. Installing stock Samsung firmware should not trip the loader. Should not. If it's tripped, you may have problems with warranty claims. I haven't bothered to check mine

Telecom firmware has some annoying branding, but works.
