Will Slingshot respond or keep plans the same?
And do you think that Telstraclear will believe its $75 for 40gb plan is enough to compete and leave it is as?

Well I would like my current ISP to, so I wouldn't have to move. But can't see it happening. I think many will have to, but many have got people locked into contracts already.

I contacted telecom, and it appears there could be some hidden fees to switch to them. Apparently they charge a $60.55 fee to move your landline to them, which isn't a fee I can see on the plans page. I do already have my landline with them, so I presume I don't have to pay that, but I wish they would make their pricing more transparent and clear. I have always found the telecom website really confusing when it comes to pricing and displaying everything youy need to know.

Most of the larger providers have the potential for hidden costs. I got stung fairly badly by my recent move as despite being with Telecom already, the new house didn't even have a working Telecom cable run to the house as TCL had decided that it wasn't necessary when they did their install for the previous tenants and chopped it out.

If your landline is already with Telecom then I can't imagine there'd be any switching fee, and if there is I'm sure you could query them on it and probably get it waived as I've heard people in a similar situation do previously.

Just had an email from Telecom. My Total home Light data cap goes up from 10g to 30g tomorrow at the start of my next usage cycle. Now if I could only get more mpg out of my motor cycle!

That appears to be a standard POT's reconnection fee when connecting a line to the Telecom Network. Where the line isn't what is known as intact, additional fee's including a site visit fee may apply.

For Broadband, there are two options

a) Sign for 12 months, free connection and included modem
b) Open term (i.e. no contract), $99 connection fee and BYO modem.

Ok so for 12 months Broadband do you get no connection fee for your voiceline?

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

If you already have a Telecom Landline then there isn't any reconnection fee.

Nope. Everything is with Orcon (Wholesale). CSR I spoke to at telecom was very nice lady and she told me all the wonders about Tivo so might have done a deal for me?

Maybe you did get a special deal then. Assuming you did it over the phone you could call them up to double check if you wanted to know now.
