Allanhall:  "They are all doing this in their own time."

Telecom employees, Really  ???

Telecom Employees replying to public forums in their own time.

I am lost for words at this point.

Telecom employees are really good at participating here, and they don't have this in their job description. The same applies to Vodafone, Slingshot, Skinny, Snap, WxC, Orcon and any other ISP around these forums.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't be so cynical.

I am getting out now and will reply with some tech questions later.

Here is my view:

  • People asked for model stats and you provided it. Good stuff.
  • Peter offered to run a test on your line. Four pages on an I haven't seen any indication this was accepted. THIS IS THE SURE WAY TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. Contact Peter via PM and give him the information to run the test. Also provide him with modem stats.
  • Following Peter's previous advice perform speedtests against the Telecom AKL server.
  • Following other people's advice only test over ethernet, not WiFi
  • Once Peter has performed the tests, post the results back here

A few things to try when it next feels slow...

Run a tracert to 219.88.188.65, paste the output here

Same for 219.88.188.1

These servers are very very close to customers and there will be no congestion between these servers and our core network. If you see see issues on latency to these IP addresses, then there could still be issues in...

- Your Operating system
- Your PC / NIC
- Your LAN
- Your ADSL router
- The ADSL link
- The [Chorus owned] DSLAM and [chorus owned] backhaul (Telecom employees can't see exactly what goes on in this space, we can only infer by looking at our side of the links)
- The [Telecom owned] BNG and backhaul to our core. (This happens very very rarely)

Paste the network assigned primary and secondary DNS servers here please.

Run a ping to 219.88.188.65, AND 219.88.188.1... Paste results here please

Can you confirm if you have given then details requested by Peter L? Has he been back in touch with you?

Yes almost my words exactly.

There are 3 tenants in the building and I am on the top floor, no one really knows whats going on about the suspended ceiling. No contracts, no reassurances around time frames no nothing.  No security measures.

12 computer systems to try to move to a safe place . When I am supposed to be trying to work.

I am having heated discussion with the landlord. About how dust and computer systems work together and how valuable 10 years of data actually is.

Any way they have left today and are coming back tomorrow morning with engineers and other contractors to discuss.
