RNC numbers have nothing to do with this.

And last time I checked I think there are now 6 or 7...
tripper1000: Ok, cool, so RNC's don't influence the situacan't , how about the rest of the idea?

That being 2d is better because it has less customers. Well I can't really comment on the customer ratio between Telecom and 2d.
What I can say is I play a game called Ingress which is a geocaching meets capture the flag which uses gps and mobile data as the core of the game. All of the serious players have both Telecom and Vodafone sims but the feedback I consistently get is the Telecom coverage is far superior to Vodafone and definitely that of 2d. The feedback I also get is the mobile speeds are pretty comparable between them all.
Mobile networks do suffer congestion and the noise floor is a real problem that can't easily fix. If you did know how to resolve it you could literally make tens if not hundreds of millions from the idea.
Edit: and if you do want to play ingress be sure to join the right side that is be part of the resistance. :)
tripper1000: So, here is marketing/customer acquisition strategy question related to this thread.
If we accept the following 2 points:
- That over the holiday period when the cellular networks were already congested, the XT network was completely overloaded in places like Hamilton due to the extra demand caused the the call and data discounts and give aways.
- That the 2 degrees network is less vulnerable to overloading as it has greater numbers of RNC's and a superior bandwidth to customer ratio, due to lower customer numbers.
; could it be possible that 2degrees is discounting, knowing that the resulting price matching will cause overloading and dis-satisfied customers on competitors networks, while the 2degrees network continues to perform acceptably, thereby causing customer migration from competitors to the 2degrees network?
This would after all be leveraging their strengths against their competitors Achilles heels?
I am not aware of the timing of each companies discounting/giveaway offers, so that knowledge may debunk my theory.

Kirdog: Today i've detected capacity issue at Western Springs location during big day out event.
Telecom XT network.
1) There was no possibility to make or receive calls from 17:00 Pm untill 23:00
2) "Emergency calls only" status. (that mean link between cell tower and phone was loss frequently)
3) Mobile internet - connection establishing but speed was 0.00 - 0.00 (nothing).
I have done call to just report that issue with capacity or cell tower, so i called to 120 to report a problem, but it was VERY hard to explain what the problem are. Telecom, train your technicians better please :) !
I have checked vodafone sim card at the same location at the same time:
1) I can do calls.
2) Signal - good/average.
3) Internet speed 0.50 Down - 0.30 Up.
Vodafone network was overloaded as well but it is still possible to make calls and play ingress.
Seems TELECOM cell tower capacity should be increased.
Probably my feed back will be helpfull.
Best wishes.
Kir.
