jaidevp: Apologies with the experience of the reoccurance of the warnings even when choosing "Dont warn again".
Will find out what's happening and advise.

And if you can, please find out about the android version please, i don't see any "don't warn again" message at all.

And I'm not even on the Spark Sociliser so not sure why it should warn me in the first place?

Thanks.

I see the option to do not warn again and it works fine for me.

You get the warning when you click an external link in the FB app and are connected to mobile data. It's a FB thing, not a Spark thing.

Are you on android? or iOS?

and why does the FB app suddenly need to warn me recently?
Isn't it normal to assume FB app (or any app) would consume your 3G/4G data when you are on 3G/4G?

Android. Sure it's easy for you to assume that, but most people often don't have a clue. Especially if their telco zero rates FB and they're being redirected to outside content.

I still think it doesn't make sense for an app to pop up warning like that.  And I think most of the telcos don't offer zero rates FB anyway.

If it's FB app that creates the warning, not Spark, to me the warning message only make people who have no clue more confusing:

you click on a link -> the app warn you it may now cost your data / $$$ -> oh right so does that mean it doesn't cost me $$$ if i don't go outside FB ?

freitasm: Just received:

Spark has partnered with Facebook and Twitter to launch Socialiser - giving customers 1GB of free data to access both mobile apps every month, for the life of their plan.

General Manager for Spark Home, Mobile and Business, Jason Paris says: “Over 1.8 million New Zealanders use Facebook every single day. 78% of those or 1.4 million access Facebook on their mobile devices and that’s why we’re launching Socialiser.

“Refreshing their Facebook newsfeed or checking their Twitter timelines is now just a part of our customers’ day to day lives so giving them more data to do this makes perfect sense to us.”

“This partnership between Spark and various social media companies is the way of the future as customers continue to connect more and more over these channels on their mobiles. That's why Socialiser isn't just a short-term offer.”

“Our customers continue to use more and more data to connect over social media so this isn’t a deal just available to customers over summer. If they activate Socialiser online, before 3 February next year they can take advantage of it for the full life of their pack or plan with us for free, no strings attached.” said Jason.

Socialiser can be switched on for free by going to www.spark.co.nz/socialiser before 3 February, 2015. Spark customers on $19 or $29 prepaid packs and consumer Pay Monthly plans are eligible. After 3 February, Spark customers who opt in to Socialiser online can pay $9 per month to get the deal.

I have socialiser added to my $19 plan which gives me txt voice and 500, and have noticed upon using Facebook and Twitter more frequently that there was a considerable amount of data use of my 500mb and not the socialiser as I kept tabs on this through my spark app. Is anyone else having this issue? Does the system actual know to use socialiser data and not the 500mb data. Annoyed as I like to keep tabs on my data and am disappointed if the socialiser app is not really doing the job.

I've had the same issue, except I'm on a $29 plan, after talking to online chat support, they said I need to call them to get it resolved, I still haven't bothered

I joined Spark in August after their rebrand and switched from Skinny, I had huge issues trying to sign up to their account portal for balance management, after a month of trying to fix this for me , they remotely rebooted my sim connection then boom it works, I hope they don't do the same to get this applied,

Can people post their data usage logged against this and how they would describe their frequency of use? Curious if it makes much difference.

Does anybody know if there's any possibility of this actually working on Windows Phones?

My wife is pretty livid about it.
She was told about it when signing up for a new phone and plan by the sales person in Harvey Norman.
So she signed up, and was upset when I found the very fine print that said IOS and Android apps only.
The notification that it was live on her account was like salt in the wound - as are the ads and glossy brochures everywhere.

I don't think it's good form on Spark's part to aggravate customers like this.

The WP Facebook app wasn't supporting whatever was needed for this - I have been following up internally to find out how and when it will be supported.

The WP twitter app does appear to support it, and I've heard reports of it working, but I cannot verify that at this stage.
