According to the Wikipedia Entry for Windows Mobile 5 it does have (or should have) cut down versions of Word & Excel and WM5 added Powerpoint to the Office functions?

"New features/built-in applications included the following:
- A new version of Office called "Office Mobile" with:
--- PowerPoint Mobile
--- Graphing capability [added] in Excel Mobile
--- Tables and graphics insertion [added] in Word Mobile
- Windows Media Player 10 Mobile
etc.." But then goes on to say under WM6 "Office Mobile support for Smartphones [added]"!

Obviously I know Wiki isn't exactly always the most reliable source, but still... I assume this could be confusion between the Smartphone and Pocket PC versions of Window's Mobile perhaps? As usual Microsoft's own (obtuse) sites are their usual little help in quickly finding clear and definitive details...

I also located a WM5 vs. WM6 Comaprison PDF HERE which clearly shows WM5 does include a version of Office Mobile in addition to Outlook Mobile - but then there is a very confusing bit of text saying it's a big feature of what was added to WM6, but then that its actually a seperately licensable application, and then it says "Both Windows Mobile 6 Standard and Windows Mobile 6 Professional powered devices may include Office Mobile"!!

Thanks Microsoft - yet another headache! Sigh...

Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition have Office Mobile. Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone does not have it.

Windows Mobile 6 Standard (previously known as Smartphone), and both Windows Mobile 6 Professional (previously Pocket PC Phone Edition) and Windows Mobile 6 Classic (previously Pocket PC) all have Office Mobile, but this is licensed separatey by the manufacturer.

Cheers Mauricio - Do you live here...? ;-)

Okay I'll put that to bed and move on to low cost word/excel viewers or equivalent for WM5 (for Okta Agent)...

Mauricio (or anyone else),

Does the Okta Agent have a hidden config menu? I can't find an option in the Windows Mobile menus to change the default 'Banner' that is displaying on the phone (which currently reads "Telecom") - its straight forward on the Nokia's as there is a banner setting in the display settings menu...?

TIA if anyone can help.

Are you talking about an image or text?

There's no hidden menu for anything like this - but I will be receiving an Okta Agent tomorrow so I will check the registry.

Cheers Mauricio - I'm talking about Text - there is a text 'banner' that appears at the top right of the main screen in the date/time strip (below the shortcut icons), and it also appear sont he small screen when the clamshell is closed.

There is a seperate Telecom image banner that appears on the small screen when the clamshell is open (while the text banner above is showing on the windows desktop ont he main screen).

Cheers!

Sorry if I'm missing something guys but the link posted by bigfut doesn't seem to work for me (1:45 p.m.).  Has it been taken down for some reason?

Thanks for that confirmation Tony.  I hadn't read Mauricio's blog prior to my last posting.  Anyway, if they are indeed the HTC Touch and HTC Vox (aka S720 in CDMA version) as Mauricio suggests they may be, then the Telus Canada site has good info on both (including PDFs of the manual) - preusmably much of which will be relevant to our CDMA versions as well.

A bit OT but nice subsidisation by that telco and damn nice plans too! I'd happily lock myself in to a plan like the Talk and Email 45 for 3 years, especially if it'd get you the Touch for CAD$150 (depending on what the quality of service is of course).
