LivingSkinny:

We are committed to giving all our customers a great service, be they Skinny Mobile, Skinny Broadband or now Skinny Direct.

Customers have told us there is a demand for higher data plans and that those customers are typically comfortable to pay with a debit / credit card (many use an auto topup on Skinny Mobile) and to manage their account online.  Hence Skinny Direct.

However we also realise there is still a large demand for the more traditional prepaid available with Skinny Mobile.

Here is a sneak peak of the account management page on Skinny Direct which shows you the features available.

Cool, thanks very much for that. I can certainly see myself falling in to that new bracket so I do see the plans as a really positive step forward.

I've just hit my Skinny renewal and have another months worth of credit left, but I'll be watching this space!

Appreciate the preview of the account management area :)

My Skinny rolled over and I topped up a bit extra yesterday but I really want to switch.

Don't like the idea of paying for the same month twice and I'd imagine it puts a lot of people off from jumping on board quickly.

Would you not get more money from more people sooner by not wiping out credit they've already paid for?

In the eye of the consumer it's all branded skinny and feels arbitrary to wipe existing credit, happy to lose rollover balances of course.

You must purchase a Skinny Direct Combo at least once every 12 months, otherwise your Skinny Direct Account will be deactivated.

You can cancel your Skinny Direct Combo via the Skinny Direct App or on your Dashboard page. Once you cancel your Combo it is immediately deactivated. This means that you can no longer use your phone to make calls, send texts or use mobile data, or purchase Add-Ons. Any unused minutes, texts, data or credit will remain on your Skinny Direct Account until the date/time they expire. If you purchase another Combo prior to the expiry date/time you will be able to use any remaining unused minutes, texts, data or credit until the date/time of expiry.

You will still be able to receive calls and texts.

You can't once the 12 months has passed.  If you are going away for over a year and want to keep the SIM active then you would be better on Skinny Mobile.  There you can top up just $5 a year to keep the SIM going.

My kids are on Skinny and I manage their numbers via the linked accounts feature.

If I switch to Skinny Direct, can I continue to manage linked accounts as before?

Is a native app being worked on? Yes I am aware an app exists but I'm meaning an app that is not just a website wrapper. The current implementation is really slow and not really mobile optimised.

Are you on an Android or iOS phone? on iOS 9.3.5 it is very snappy and responsible for both 3G and 4G mode.

You can continue to log in and manage their linked accounts as you normally do. To manage your own account however, you'll need to access your Skinny Direct dashboard.

So currently both my wife and I are on $16 Skinny plans; my wife needs a more robust plan, and the new $30 Skinny Direct plan seems a good option (especially given the $26 Skinny plan doesn't include free voice mail, let alone the difference of 1GB versus 3GB data).

If she switches to Skinny Direct, do my calls to her number still count as free "Skinny to Skinny" calls? (Obviously hers don't matter as the package includes unlimited calls.) I'm worried about eating into my 1265 rollover minutes I currently have (joke).

Yes calls from Skinny Mobile to Skinny Direct are still treated as Skinny to Skinny calls

This approach means that we have a consistent look and feel across the website and apps.  We also only have to maintain one primary code base, which means more savings that enable us to make the Combos such great value.  I'd be interested to hear why you think it isn't mobile optimised because that is a key part of our design process.  Regarding the speed if you let me know what device you are using we will run some tests to see if there is something we need to change as we haven't seen any issues on the range we have used in development.

Personally I would have branded the new Skinny Direct products as something completely different -- too confusing otherwise
