Because they obviously do not care about the security of your email credentials if they are allowing you to connect with security set to none.
That may well be the case, however these smtp servers are all controlled by vodafone....

They all have SSL security options according to the above link.
The issue I have is that any attempt to connect to any of those smtp servers using SSL/465 (via Spark VDSL) returns a frozen login attempt and eventual timeout error. Trust me I have spent two days trying this.
The questions are:
Is it Spark blocking access to Vodafone smtp SSL logins?
or
Is it Vodafone blocking my Spark VSDL connection?
Spark only filter port 25 (non secure SMTP).
it is my undertanding that vodafone actually use different smtp servers for the older paradice emails, this is a relic of them not merging email systems unfortunately.
