I switched to Unplan Entertainment yesterday, from Bigpipe.

I could not do it online - Bigpipe is not recognised as an ISP to switch from, and even if it was, Bigpipe do not use account numbers.

I called up, and went through all the questions, credit check etc OK, then when asked what my account number and losing ISP was, she got stuck.

SHe had to go away and find out from somewhere else how to do it with Bigpipe (she didn't even know what Bigpipe was, and was a little surprised when I told her Bigpipe was a Spark company).

She called me back a couple of hours later to tell me it was still being discussed and she was waiting to hear back from the switching team. Half an hour later she called me back and it was all sorted.

Funny how difficult it was switching from one Spark ISP to another. You'd think that'd be the easiest.

CSR was excellent by the way.

Sorry for the issues you had there trig.  Part of the complexity is that we need to enter the losing ISP details in the order we submit to Chorus to move them from one RSP to another.  This means you need to know what Chorus know Bigpipe as in their systems (hint: it's not Bigpipe).  If it is not one that the person you spoke to deals with all the time, they may not know.

Anyway, I'm glad it's all sorted for you!

Dave.

Hi there
I am thinking of moving to the UnPlan Entertainment - currently on the Spark 100 + landline plan which is $115 from memory. Also got the free Netflix for a few months when I signed up.

What’s been your experience with UnPlan? Are the speeds ok and reliable ?? I did read on here that the traffic was maybe getting shaped or is that a urban myth now?

Thanks

That clause is relevant for wireless. by all means as a fibre user go till your heart is content!

Speeds are identical, at the network layer nothing will change.

it's made really easy on the online journey, around about the same internally.

the complexity when it comes to RSP's like bigpipe is, they don't use classical "account numbers".

I believe the BP process has been smoothed over now...

Take the leap to FibreMAX. Much higher upload speeds than Unplan 100 and nearly a 1GBPS download connection speed!

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Read my post to this Topic here. I have had no speed problems at all.

Had a chat with Spark online over the weekend as I had read this: "Our Modem lineup - Get a free modem with our Unplan, Unplan Entertainment, Unlimited, Unlimited Entertainment or 120GB Home Wireless Broadband plans".

Now I already had two HG630b modems. The first one I received when I initially connected to Spark VDSL, then received another when I connected to Fibre. But I knew that the HG630b only did 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz. Even though I am mainly home networked via Ethernet cable, I rather cheekily asked if I was going to receive a free HG659b modem with my upgrade to the Unplan Entertainment package.

Well I received my new HG659b modem this morning. I now have 4 networks in the house; 2 x Spark modem and 2 x Apple.  (2 x 2.4Ghz [b.g.n] & 2 x 5Ghz [ac]).

And yes I have changed the new modems login password and SSID name and WLAN Key.

Thanks Spark.

Anyone in Tauranga want an unused Spark Huawei HG630b modem, i'll keep the used one as a backup spare.

Truth be told, you were peaking what you could do with that device. so you will likely see a minor performance gain even over Ethernet.

I got switched over from Bigpipe to Spark yesterday. Change happened about midday (I know this because my wife messaged me at about 2 to say Alexa wasn't working. I got home and reconfigured Router - no issues.

Now I am trying to setup my MySpark, and whilst it recognises my email address and has my full name, it doesn't have my account details. I go to the Add account bit and enter my account number, then it asks me for a 'Broadband Line Number' which they say will be on my bill, which I won't get for a month.

They aren't answering their phones either (90 minute wait for a call back and I have to go out before then).

No sign of a Netflix sign up thing (or lightbox for that matter) either.

Flick me your details, will smooth this over with ya.

Lightbox and Netflix is dependant on your myspark access.

Chat is a good option  too :)

Just switched over from "Wireless" to Unplan Entertainment Fibre 100 today. Spark reckon it will take a couple of days to get the Netflix activation and Lightbox. I did a speedtest and I'm only getting 50 down. I messaged Spark and they said they need to get the paperwork back from Chorus and then it will go to 100. Does that sound right?

p.s My HG659b modem keeps logging me out as well. Anyone had that issue?

@wasssupppp How did you test over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and using what server?

Test over ethernet please.

Netflix will be there already. Look in myspark. Light box will be added in about 7 days. You will get an email for it.

Please dm me details and I'll look into the confusion the agent has put you in. Speeds are as requested by chorus. We order that speed upfront and provision. Short of some sort of area, this days thing does not exist with spark. (it does with some other providers in their stacks.)
