tardtasticx: I’ll probably move to spark in a month or two if OneNZ don’t do something.
Im on the $85 One Plan, and have One Number (total spend $90/month) and have a Spotify plan I pay for separately. So it’d be an instant saving of $18.99/month.

My partner is on Spark already, would probably look to run us on a group to save even more.

Interesting that One NZ are often the last to move on pricing, they tend to be followers in the NZ mobile space. Be good to see some competitive offers from them, otherwise I may be in the same boat, as I pay for Spotify separately, and currently have 3 other group members (on an old Red Sharer $99 plan, which they have recently increased the cost of each sharer to $29).

Still no news - I'm starting to think they're not going to do anything.

Maybe it's something for the "too-hard basket".

@quickymart Still no news on what? If you mean for OneNZ then this can take many weeks as the bean counters need to be across it

It's interesting that 2degrees moved quickly but One didn't. It makes me think the former might have had some early knowledge, whereas the latter was blindsided and had to get their commercial analysts to start urgently working on it.

Surely they would have a bunch of scenario models ready to plug in the numbers and produce forecasts for the results of competitor price action and possible responses. One late night perhaps for the commercial team, and the impact analysis and proposed responses should have been on management's desks by 9am... at least, that's what I would do if I were responsible for revenue in a major business...

It didn't used to take that long - in fact they were usually the first to release a new plan before anyone else (see above).

Still nothing from one.nz

I wonder if they even care what the competition does anymore? Like I said, back in the, uh, "olden days" they would have been all over this by now. Hell, they may have even done this before anyone else.

Still annoys me, there is nothing at the cheaper end.

$45 for 5GB, then $65 for 75GB, big disparity, and really convinces you to spend the extra $20 for data you probably wont use as you likely will only need 10-15GB.

Exactly why I've gone to the MVNOs, although it helps I have a work phone on one network and my personal on another too.

I had an online chat with OneNZ yesterday and let them know I was considering moving to Spark due to their unlimited plan being identical except cheaper for me once factoring in Spotify. They offered me $5 off per month for 1 year...

Not worth it to stay in my mind but sharing in case someone else finds that worthwhile.

Honestly, just port out - nothing like voting with your feet. Now that Spotify is $19/month Spark’s $90 plan is pretty good value - even better if you have an Apple Watch.

I'm sure Vodafone had bean counters back in the 2000s as well, but they just about fell over themselves to get new plans out back in those days.

Anyway, I'll stop going on about it, I'll be surprised if they do anything at this stage - the competition have had a week or two headstart on them at this point.

Looks like Samsung included now as well. I thought it was a bit weird to do Apple only when it came out, but looks like Samsung watch one number is supported now too which is awesome.

Take care,
