This just in, starting 3 July, Spark is introducing a new Daily Roaming option and new roaming packs for 100+ destinations - now with significantly more data. As a Pay Monthly customer, you'll be set up for Daily Roaming in 100+ destinations.

This means you can use your NZ plan's data, minutes and texts while you're overseas, unless you choose to buy a roaming pack instead.

  • Daily Roaming - $10/day (incl. GST) - Use your NZ pay monthly plan data, minutes and texts.
  • Data-Only - $50 (incl. GST) - 20GB capped in 100+ destinations. Valid 30 days. Text "BUY DATAROAM" to 258
  • Data & Talk - $65 (incl. GST) - 20GB capped, 300 minutes (for each inbound & outbound), 300 texts across 100+ destinations. Valid 30 days. Text "BUY ROAM" to 258

Note: The $8 AUS Daily Roaming Pack, $25 2GB Data Roaming Pack, and $30 Roaming Pack (2GB + 300 minutes) will no longer be available for Pay Monthly customers to purchase from 3 July 2026.

Can't see myself roaming anytime soon but these changes are very welcomed, nonetheless.

Agree. $65 for 20gb and 300mins over 30 days in 100+ countries is great! Zero need for local e-sims

Glad to see Spark change up their roaming... but a $10 daily roaming that is in line with One NZ? Ouch...

2degrees is still $8 a day...

The capped packs could be very good value compared to eSIM providers compared to Ubigi for example if you're staying closer to the 30 day mark... value drops the shorter your stays are...

Overall, good change but there's room for improvement.

If you're staying for any longer than 5-to-6 days, you're better off buying a pack.

Spark appears to have a few countries that One NZ doesn't, such as American Samoa, Maldives, Nauru, Nepal and Solomon Islands.

But if you're taking a trip to Iraq, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Tajikistan or Venezuela anytime soon then you'll be better off staying on One NZ.
