Most of the handsets list is a secret at the moment with only two confirmed.

i was told that stores who are not telecom owned only just received the update early this afternoon, telecom internal staff may have received the update this morn

I am going to start droping this link in every page: please read this blog post about 850MHz.

Summary: Vodafone uses 2100MHz in main centres, 900MHz outside. Telecom uses 850MHz everywhere with a few 2100MHz sites.

If your Vodafone handset supports 850MHz (such as the iPhone), it will work just fine.

I'm excited about not dropping calls in Parnell, and being able to surf the web reliably on my iPhone without having to drop back to 2G . I'll be porting my number across on launch day.

You mean like an amplifier? or that NZ Comms site 100m away from me?

NZ Comms looks like the go then doesn't it. In CHCH i know that when my BB8830 goes into Global mode, with out fail it connects NZ Comms. If this is the same in most major centres, Vodafone sure will have to do some work holding off the XT onslaught & NZ Comms!

Yes, the new XTNetwork from Telecom will have SIM cards.

Yes, some of the existing VodafoneNZ handsets are compatible with the new network. No, we don;t currently have a list of the compatible devices.

Excellent NZ Comms coverage footprint in the Hutt Valley and are rolling out heaps of sites around the Wgton region.

If telecom do prepaid data, that will be good, but not too expensive plans. And mobile tv is my most sought after feature. But it won't be available for wm devices. :-(

I'm having the same issue. Day in and Day out. But NZ Comms is only launching a GSM network and 2100MHz UMTS network, right, not 850MHz or 900MHz?

hmmm... wait and see i would suggest!

Once XT have launched I'll run some tests (borrow some gear) and decide whether to stay where I am or switch from an E71-1 to an E71-2(?) with the 850MHz UMTS and jump to XT
