Problem:

From about over a week ago downloads became extremely slow. Usually get over 200kb/s, but now I'm downloading at under 20kb/s.

Steam slow to connect.

* Trying the Frozen Synapse beta and the port it uses (28021) appears to be so heavily throttled that the game doesn't function 95% of the time for multiplayer. The server is at 62.197.39.230 in the UK. The game is turn-based and hardly a bandwidth concern.

People. Read the original post. ONLY post issues you are experiencing with enough information for Telecom's employees to help diagnose.  If you want to discuss Big Time, don't do it here, the thread to do that is here.

Very witty! Consider this strike one

Http management behaviour still heavily penalises applications that use a single tcp/ip connection when compared to multiple connections/segments

Example:

Site: Songbird Music Player
Host: Amazon SWS
Location: US
File: http://download.songbirdnest.com/installer/windows/i686-msvc8/Songbird_1.4.3-1438_windows-i686-msvc8...

Web Browser Download: ~25-35 KB/s
Download Manager Download: ~180-200 KB/s

* Download Manager was using 10 segments/connections
