This is not incorrect; I would say a usability decision.
You are on the Smartphone bundle.
The change to/ from the bundle is not supported on *333 because of the different billing rates for the Smartphone bundle (Text Anyone 2500 and Mobile Broadband 500MB) between vs. the extras if they were individually added, and potentially have different roll over dates. To remove the bundle you will need to talk to the prepaid helpdesk on 0800 323232.
Please remember though that you cannot change your plans more than once per month

It is wrong, otherwise it would say "You have 8XXmb data remaining" like TWorld does. Instead it thinks im on the 500mb plan and states i only have ~360mb left.

Oh I see what you mean. The usage Metre has not reconised you have had your 500Mb plan doubled to 1gig. Ok.

shadybrothers: Just discovered that I cannot get the SmartPhone addons because I am on a corporate plan. Special Offers page states only that you must be connected to XT :(

Can you PM me some details, and I will confirm for you.

Also include the plan you are after.

Any clarification on what the actual charging regime is on this smartphone plan?
I seem to have been charged $24 for the data part, but on the mytelecom page on my phone it states $28 for the data portion?

^ smartphone plans are charged at $1/MB till 14MB (240MB plan) or 24MB (1GB plan) . Non smartphone plans are charged at 10C/MB.

Do whatever you want to do man.

.. just checked out the webite, the 50c overage would be somthing to look out for

Orcon runs on the Vodafone network, which puts me off.

I second that - for all the faults of XT Network - at least when I travel from Silverstream to Wellington I maintain a HSDPA connection all the way there and back; what is even more pathetic is with Vodafone in Silverstream I barely get a 3G connection let alone a 'extended 3G'.

I'm considering the switch to XT from VF but I'm wondering if someone can help me decipher the best option 'cos frankly I'm not making a lot of sense from the website taking into account possible top up bonuses etc. I would be bringing my iPhone 4 with me at the end of the month and am keen to avoid any further ongoing contracts.

Currently I'm on the iPhone 60 plan which includes 60 mins VF-VF only calls, 250mb data and 600 txts. What I'd like to have access to is as much, or more call time to ANY phone in NZ, 250mb of data is good but more would be great, and I really only send 40-50 txts / month. Looking at XT's post-paid options, the One Rate 100 seems very expensive @ $49 (compared to 2Degree's Everyone $30 plan) and by the time I add $18 for 240mb data I'm up to $67 and haven't sent a txt yet.

Could someone assist me in painting a pre-paid XT equivalent if I were to top up $60/month? I can visit the local store ofcourse but since we seem to have some connected experts here I thought I'd ask.

I'd be much obliged.

Hi there, here is a start, on prepaid:

TXT 150 $6 per month (150 TXTs to any network, cheaper than the 20c/txt casual if you send 40 per month)
Mobile Broadband 240Mb $18 per month
60 minutes of calling = $53.40 (EXPENSIVE but then it probably won't be QUITE as much because of per second billing after your first minute. I have used whole minutes only in calculations here).

That comes to $77.40 per month.

Because your usage is likely to be around $80 per month (headline rates), then it would make sense for you to do $60 topups each time you top up. $60 gets you $80, effectively a 25% discount off headline rates.

Therefore you actually only pay $58.05 per month for what I quoted above.

Minutes over and above your 60 minutes only cost you 89c (becomes 67c/min after the topup bonus). That compares to 79c/min overage on your current iPhone $60 plan.

So overall you pay slightly less if you use EXACTLY 60 minutes per month. If you use less than 60 minutes then you will be better off than you would be with Vodafone (because you don't pay for what you don't use). If you go over 60 minutes you are also better off because excess minutes are cheaper.

Of course you only get 240Mb data instead of 250Mb - but it's faster ;)

If you want to upgrade data the next level is $30 for 512Mb, which adds $12 ($9 after your topup bonus) to the above figure. So $67.05 per month if you want 512Mb instead of 240Mb (this is not an option available with Vodafone on iPhone plans I believe).
