Firmwares are distributed by regions dictated by the current region defined in the phones firmware.

If there's no matching firmware for your phones region code (basically the CSC), which is either VNZ or TNZ for Vodafone & Telecom respectively, then Kies won't tell you there's an update.

There may be some differences, potentially the modem/radio firmware for Telecoms may be tailored more specifically towards UMTS/WCDMA reception @ 850Mhz.

stevenz: The Poland release is the one to get as they are generally "Open" and have full English.

Expect flashable leaks any moment now. There's no reason Telecom should need to do anything beyond VERY minor changes to the firmware as long as there's no issues with the modem, so no reason they shouldn't be able to get their version out pretty soon.

Depends how long they want to "test" it of course.

Got the official Poland ICS firmware and it's running great on my 9100T :-)

Happy to run this until my preferred ics rom developed updates his build to the official base. Im comfortable running stock for a little while, no rush to go custom!

The recent leaks have been stable and this official release is good.

Wow that does look easy Can you confirm it definitely works with Telecom's S2? Saw this on the site:

> This firmware and the guide below is compatible only and only with Galaxy S2, model number i9100. It?s not compatible with any other device, including US variants of S2, the Epic 4G Touch, T-mobile Galaxy S2 and AT&T Galaxy S2 along with Skyrocket.

Works on GT-I9100T. I have a Telecom XT S2 :-) The US variants, definitely won't work.

I have the NZ Telecom Galaxy S2 (i9100T) and was tempted to try the above linked process to upgrade to ICS... and it worked perfectly... no issues - all settings and data and apps etc remained - to use a phrase from another fruity manufacturer, 'it just works.'

I would call myself a fairly novice user.

I have encountered a minor issue with duplicate messages when using 3rd party sms apps, but apart from that it is awesome - definitely recommend... not a huge change from gingerbread but minor ui tweaks everywhere and definitely better!

My only question is how we can change to the official Telecom ICS build when it is released - use same method?

I have the same problem with the text messages, on both go sms and handcent, the default message apps works fine however

But just want to point something out, if you use "go sms" you will need to enable notifications in the app then uninstall it.

If you disable "go sms" notifications then it will disable all notifications on every sms message app (including the default with enabled notifications enabled) this happen to me this morning and was then called a snob at work :P

I re-enabled in "go sms" then removed the app and now notifications work on the default message app :)

You should just be able to download the firmware from telecom/samsung once it has been release and do the odin update with it.

Had a friend that was on a leak of ICS and had problems and was able to flash the 2.3.3 telecom rom back on via Odin, but he did have to do a wipe in recovery.

Thanks for tips.  That's good to know re being able to move to the Telecom build...

re sms apps, I'm using Chomp & didn't encounter that issue.  Hopefully the Telecom build resolves the duplicate sms issue

Sorry - I was meaning I didn't encounter the disable notifications when using Chomp - yes I still have the duplicate sms issue with chomp too.  Oh well - in the grand scheme of things its not a biggie...
