The Wii was fine, played against people in the US, UK, Aussie, Mexico and Russia (Wanted to choose some non mainstream destinations). No stuttering, no lag, played fine baring when I lost.

But my streaming non youtube still sucks a VERY big kumera.

EDIT: Finally off page 39 for this topic, for some reason that page compose reply, quote didn't work when I clicked on it.

Strange, Comodo reports where I'm streaming from as 202.7.6.27
Thats citylink in Wellington. My speed test to CityLink in Wellington sucks also, but to Auckland by world exchange it is running full speed.

I personaly think there shaping packetd to and from the servers and treating them as p2p packets, which is the main resen the data shape imo

bottem line? crappy system that manages the speed, period.

Telecom's price hike upsets users big time

Despite Telecom offering to log a fault on my Big Time plan on Friday to investigate the horrifyingly slow speeds I was getting during peak time, I have asked them to switch me back to my old plan. I tried to put up with over the weekend but I can't stomach it a second longer so I'm going back to Adventure. 15KB/s is ridiculous - barely faster than dialup. Isn't there a minimum speed requirement for a connection to be classed as 'broadband'?

I think Telecom won't bother checking your line unless you're getting a connect rate slower than 2Mbit. So I guess that...

But for online gaming can't really tell you. Might try the Wii today and see if I can get anything.

I have noticed increased ping on games outside nz, unfortunatly I ddint ping the problimatic servers before I had this problem or trace them for that matter so i have no cluwtf is going on :S

Yup same here, nz servers are reasonable (50 or so) but leave the country and it's 300+ easy.

+1 on poor speeds last 3 days.

I've been on this plan now since it came out, it was just surperb then, but over the last two weeks it's been just rubbish!! I barely use torrants and don't game online but just browsing is painfully slow and forget youtube even cached content and Downloading digital content is poop. For example, the Race On demo was coming in on Steam at 6~12Kbs last night, I used to get 700~1000 !!!

Something has very seriously gone wrong with this plan and tech support staff don't want to listen, I called TC support (after countless PC and router reboots and other fault seeking) and was told there was nothing wrong and I was getting good speeds.

Great local speeds but international is a joke and frankly unusable, I smell another Go Large repeat of 2007!

I logged a job and am waiting to ehar back for the same issue. I told them either they fix it, and credit my account for every day that my connection has been like this, or waive the contract break fee when I switch back to another ISP. I also pointed out I was aware of my rights under the consumer gurantees act and that the current level of service is "not fit for purpose" under said legislation. Most companies pay attention when you wave the CGA at them so will be interesting to see..

Worst case I'm quite happy to take them to disputes tribunal, where i'd be confident of a win.

Aye It will.. IANAL but the way I see it the plan performed at a certain level for the first few months (most importantly this included the period where we could legally cancel the contract), so thats the level of service they have to continue to provide.

Ghey check this out On Normal ADSL because of 2+ frequency issues. I live in Hamilton but idk where the closest cabnet is

US East

US West

Note I have Regestry edits (improves TCP only), INterleaving off and im only on ADSL(1) when I was on ADSL2+ i was pushing 1.5MB/s on Aucks.

So im not sure if your out in the sticks, have interleaving on or both but your connection really deos suck and you most certaintly deserve those account credits

Hey Guys,

Monday afternoon, my land line was switched from Vodafone to Telecom and yesterday, I received my wireless router from Telecom and I'm having an issue connected to Broadband.

The router is a

Thomson TG585 Wireless Multi-User ADSL2+ Modem

I've plugged everything in right but whenever I try to go to a link e.g. google, I'm sent to some Thomson link that tells me that my broadband isn't connected and I have to reset my modem by uplugging the power cable, wait 2 minutes , then plug it back in then restart my computer. I've done so many times but it keeps showing up with the same message. This is when I'm on ethernet.

I also went to the link for Thomson - 192.168.1.254 and whenever I try to go to connect to broadband - its says "DSL is down".

Also my Broadband and Internet LED Lights aren't lighting up green. My Ethernet and Wireless LED is lighting up green.

Someone from Telecom is going to have a look at it but I was hoping you guys would know the reason why I'm not able to get onto the internet. The person talking to me from Telecom about my problem wasn't very helpful.

Please help me out guys.

Sounds to me like the broadband may not be active on the line. Did the Telecom guy say if the Broadband was connected or not yet?

yeh they are very slow at getting this done, took them about a week to get it done with ours >.> btw i am getting fine ping now, idk if its accross the whole country but I certainly am :)

edit: I take that back f@#& you telecom give me one days respite then its back to normal again >.>

How frequently does it happen? what I did is call up and ask for them to change the modem from ADSL2+ to normal ADSL.
Im not sure on the exact details but its somthing to do with the line and the frequency adsl2+ runs on
