AKLWestie: Would it help if I PM you my ticket number?

If you could PM me the case number you that would be appreciated. :)

I'm having a chat with some of the Level 3 guys about this, nothing definite so far but if cases have been logged please PM them to me and I will forward them onto the guy I am talking to so they can be collected together.

Just to confirm this is ADSL (not Mobile Broadband) related, and seems to just be with international transit speeds as I see speed tests to AUS and national seem ok.

Any issues just PM me or email me at "pl at telecom dot co dot nz" with any relevant information you have such as case numbers and ideally your home line number too which helps to track your line number.

Cheers

Peter

Last update I had from telecom is that the issue is with Global Gateway for investigation. Very frustrating because at times performance is okay but then it deteriorates to awful.

That's the same story I have heard.  I'm speaking with the Level 3 guy directly and he is chasing it up.  I've also forwarded through the other two cases I was PM'ed through to him as well.  There seems to be a pattern but the Global Gateway folks need to investigate further.

There seems to be a pattern of people with a IP address of 222.x.x.x seem to have the speed issue more than others.  But if you are having the problem be sure to either log the call with the helpdesk 0800 225 598 or use Broadband Assist or online via the email us.

219.89.* for me - Its weird though, this morning I was trying to download some HP software, absolutely terrible speed, stopped it, waited 5 minutes and tried again the it flew!!

Very weird!

Hmm
Would be interesting to check if the static IPs are cached bypassed.
Speculating when using dynamic IP speeds are faster(cached)
When the IP are bypassed(not cached) literally having to fetch directly international.

I know I'm describing how caching works, but at least finding this out we can comclude that users are seeing a trend in international speeds really getting slower than normal.... But are they??

Does anyone have historical speeds data to make a comparison and conclude that direct international traffic are getting worst.

I can say with a fair amount of confidence that this isn't cache related. I'll recheck a few things at work tomorrow as I have access to a system which has some very useful test info.

Rest assured its being looked into by the right people and the more folks who log cases the more it will help the support folks diagnose the root cause of the issue.

Peter I Agree, I'm NOT saying the slow speeds is due to caching but rather it might be the exploration behind why we see higher speeds.
