thats the press release, not the full list of plans I assume.

They have included residential, school, and business fibre plans in their press release. Looks good.

Sorry but this made me cringe. I was really hoping Telecom would be extremely competitive with the other ISP's who already have their UFB plans out. I'm guessing it will be another $20 for 100/50 speed. I would love to be proved wrong though!

whu? all you have is the press release that states their entry level plan. it says nothing about other plans.

You seem to be upset because in this press release they only mention one plan, even though they are probably going to talk about the others right now.

How so? A $10 premium on your current plan with Telecom for UFB whereas Chorus charge quite a bit more than that between those two different classes of service at the wholesale end.

Right, so you were expecting Telecom to launch day 1 with all LFCs, not just Chorus.

I suggest you find the Retail Service Providers that do provide Residential service in your area: http://www.ultrafastfibre.co.nz/about/fibre-retailers

Orcon/Snap offer much better plans than this.

And, Tauranga is not even mentioned here - not even in the phase 2 rollouts.

I'm sorry, but I was expecting better from telecom.

Very disappointing. Just based on this so called entry level plan.

Fantastic.

They aren't engaging in a race to the bottom led by Orcon, which means several things:

1) The performance on their connections should be good. There is enough margin in the entry level 50GB plan to ensure they've got the international bandwidth / contention ratio right

2) Since they'll be mass-marketing UFB at pricing from $95/month, smaller ISPs will be able to compete and take some of the benefit of the Telecom marketing engine (I'm looking at Snap! in particular).

well snap is irrelevant to you since they dont sell UFB in Taurange either.

And Orcon is slightly cheaper for the equivalent kind of plan ($89 for 60GB vs Telecom $95 for 50GB), although the Telecom one uses PSTN whereas Orcon is VOIP.

And Telecom have almost always been abit more expensive than other ISPs forthe same level of datacap, so not sure why you are surprised at that either.
