Can we sue Telecom after their blatant lying back in the days of 'Big Time' where all their ads showing off the whole family utilising high bandwidth applications yet in reality one would be lucky to get dial up speeds. If Telecom is going to whine about Vodafone then I'd love to see users of Telecom raise all the advertising hype over the years from Telecom and how they never once actually lived up to their promise.

the few experiences i've had with telecoms broadband have all been average or bad (go large), my slingshot connection has always been faster, the torrent cache doesn't hurt either ;)

They have already been fined over this. You will find that telecom offers some of NZ's best adsl broadband.

my nana changed from slingshot to telecom and her sync rate went down, presumably because she was on slingshots better network.

But I bet her overall browsing speed significantly improved and she was able to use the web during peak times.

Also I hope she got a Master Filter installed when she moved back, as every home should have a Master Filter.

Ultra fast broadband is about ultra fast broadband. I think its everything about speed, and has got nothing to do with how that speed is obtained.

IMO it does not matter what kind of cable runs into your house. If its copper, fibre, coaxial who cares.
Having a fiber connection does not mean I have ultra fast broadband. As an example my current ADSL2+ Snap! copper connection is much faster than my previous clogged down, bottle necked, Telstraclear (Vodafone) cable.

Dead and buried. Time to move on. That is very old news and I believe paid for by Telecom, both in fines and compensation to customers.

Advertising hype and hyperbole is all part of the game. But if a business misleads, intentionally or not, then it's right for others to complain.

And if you recall, it didn't take long for Voda to have a good moan when XT launched about some of the claims Telecom made at the time.

Lets not bring up the XT launch. Remember all those Richard Hammond adverts?

I recently set up a new office and needed a new business account and broadband contract (ASAP).  Telecom were able to give me a firm install date that was only a 3 working days away.  The Telecom rep had immediate access to the booking schedule for the installer.  The other firms I rang didn;t seem, to have that info and couldn't give me a precise install date at all but said it would be at least 10 working days (ROFLMAO).

So Telecom got the business not because they were cheaper, or because they offered what I wanted (naked broadband) but because they were more responsive as a result of having better information available to their sales reps.

I hope it really is a level playing field since Chorus was split off ...

That's exactly my point.  If the truth is stretched too far, other parties will try and stop the stretching.

No.

Its because chorus set 12 db noise margin. Its make real difference in sync rate.

Sorry about my English guys :>

I have not seen anybody post the following 2 facts so far, it all seems like this thread has turned into an argument on which service is better and who did what in the past, we're not comparing Apples to Androids here...

"Best Broadband Network" - not according to Truenet
And for the "Best Fixed Line Network" argument, well, I'm pretty sure most of Vodafone's customers will be going through Telecom's NEAX switches.

"Mars Ultimate-ultra-mega-super-slow water Broadband" is better really! In parallel universe

But, for me personally Vodafone Helpdesk/Support is not good at all:

Waiting more then 20 minutes for response from them and still listening doggy music through the phone...

Sorry about my English guys :>
