Jumping in late here. It looks like I might have to retire a couple of the handsets in my collection that can only handle 2G (largely irrelevant to Spark, Skinny & 2degrees customers) and 3G. It'll be interesting to see if 4G reception for Spark will improve where I live, an almost dead spot in an otherwise well covered area for the main providers.

I note vodafone says they will be running GSM until 2025.

cokemaster: I’m temporarily on Spark again on account of roaming in New Zealand… I’ve noticed 4G is ok but no data on 3G (when calling, it appears Telstra doesn’t do VoLTE).

When I was at the airport roaming on 2 degrees, I had data on 3G however… but unsure whether the airport odd a special place where they allocate more 3G capacity than usual.

This! When my phone drops back to 3g the data just dies. For that reason alone this can’t come quick enough, not having to wait to get back to 4g to continue having data. This happens daily, same spots, between Prebbleton and Lincoln, along the main road.
