caldazar: Palm Pre. A shame that it won't be available in GSM/WCDMA for a while.

Will the Palm Pre launched on June 6th in the US work on Telecom's existing 027/CDMA network? Why don't Telecom bring those out? I guess it distracts from their XT network launch...

Only CDMA (Sprint) in US at the moment...Eos maybe a possibility as on AT & T's leaked roadmap...

fieldway: HTC Fortress or Warhawk ...
Maybe Telstra will release them? Or Expansys - they did release the Touch Diamond 130 for Telstra Next G.

The Palm Pre is looking more and more like a winner for me. Rather sadly, a large selling point for a phone for me is that I be able to use the LED/xenon flash as a torch as everyone I know seems to live down long dark paths :) It's bound to turn up on Telecom eventually, but when is anyones guess.

The N97 is pretty promising and not far off (officially or otherwise). The w995a is already coming but I'd like a better web browser.

As long as I can bank my XT network credit until something really good comes out, every bit helps ;)

My trusty SE W900 is a brilliant phone, an 850Mhz version with a 3.5mm headphone jack would pretty much do the job nicely. Of course, WiFi and a half-decent web browser would be very useful too, but that'd also mean an LCD upgrade. The w995a is pretty much the progression of it, but it doesn't rotate. :)

Maybe the Sony PSP-2/Go will have a SIM slot in it, that'd replace another device as well. Convergence ftw!

Yup got a trusty HTC titan as well , modified of course, gotta have the gps mapping :) was hanging out for the HTC touch HD. but can only get one from aussie at the moment and apart from the cost , i cant be bothered with the hassle of overseas warranty.

I havnt had to claim any warranty on a phone for as long as i can remember, but i am sure that would change as soon as i got a phone from overseas :)

Got me a iphone to play with at the moment, good fun. till i can get me a HTC touch HD or maybe the warhawk or fortress.

Damager:
matt45: hmmm im looking at the touch pro now .... other than bigger screen what makes the pro 2 better?

I have had an HTC Titan for a while and it's time to move onto the next logical purchase, the TP2 :-) The decent sized screen for video media on the go, plus the ability to retain many of my favorite windows mobile software and a decent slide out keyboard :-)

I'm pretty excited about the Nokia E55 - apparently under 1cm thick.
Got A-GPS & Wifi both features I was looking for specifically.

Jama: Acer F900 - oh that's right I have one coming.

Damn, did you get one for Vodafone? because I thought the 850mhz version wasn't out yet?
Very much liking the look of the new Acer smartphones, although they are all basically E-Tens phones rebranded after they were bought out, I wouldn't mind the Acer DX900 either that looks the goods

I have an Acer F900 850MHz connected to XT Network and it's by far the best Windows Mobile I've ever had...

Mauricio - you had early said you'd go for the M900, and I'd posted earlier on whether the extra weight/bulk was worth the keyboard (+ better camera and security) but got no takers. What do you think now after a bit of use of the F900, and any sign that Acer will be selling in this neck of the woods?

Jama works for Acer distributor in New Zealand and these are certainly coming - I just got mine directly from Acer, as part of a beta test group.

The device is really nice, but I want to spend some time with the M900. I rather have a keyboard because I do reply lots of emails while away.

MMmm I had nearly decided on a non-Qwerty device, and after lots of looking last night, I have really decided I *need* qwerty.

E75 might be me. A shame, as I nearly decided on an N85, and the 5MP Autofocus camera would have been REALLY useful.

Anything is an improvement on an Okta touch right, I am rather wanting an Iphone, even though touch screen can be a tad annoying.

When people say 'Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too'. Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

I don't think it's very fair that americans can get blackberrys for a 24 month plan for $19.99
and we have to pay a rediculious price for our's and then have some expensive plan.

the iphone is only 199
and the plan is cheaper
and has unlimited everything

why is new zealand so far behind with technology :(

its not really the technology that is behind in this case its more the fact the nz is a very small country. the more customers you have the cheaper the rates one can offer. thats not to say that nz carriers arnt making enough money.
