Even though speed looks ok, it's very jerky. It got up to 9.00 Mb/s half way then started slowing down like a car coasting down the road with foot off gas, then for a brief second a bit of power booast then foot off gas again.

Test took over 30 seconds to run, whereas nz and other countries done in under 10 seconds.

my ip number:122.57.24.115

Dslam believe to be Hoon Hay, Christchurch

P.S. It's only Australian sites that have this problem, every where else seems to be fine.

Now the speed has gone crap. Noted one interesting difference when clicked on speedtest.net sydney this time it took me to optus istead of bigair.

My ip this time is:122.57.17.176, all other settings should be same as above.

Trace route to www.optus.com.au

Trace complete.

Edit: Not all Austriala is bad, Alelaide and Perth are good, Sunshine cost is good, Melbourne faster but jerky, Brisbane bad even though under  same Star as Sunshine.

Not sure what poster below  is on about with different modem, as here's Sunshine coast result with same modem as speed test at top....Why the difference?

yeah, back bigair for me to, I got just over 7 Mb/s download to, only thing is I stop watched the test and it took 1 min and 3 seconds to run, with it's starting and stopping.

In comparison sunshine coast test takes 24.8 seconds to run test, it doesn't start and stop during test.

enforcernz: Anyone experiencing slow speeds on international traffic today ??

Local tracffic is fine but international doesnt even go over a 1Mb

I thought it was just my Big Time plan,
turned out a simple router restart and wireless channel change more than 5x my speeds!
