Wow thats a pathetic answer. Why not call up the billing dept. and ask the csr, if they cant help then demand to speak to the supervisor.

Two Cents //

Just posing this here as a hypothetical: special offers such as this are a privilege not a right correct? Why are there so many people saying how offended they are at not getting a similar offer when Telecom are under no obligation to offer them one? I know it's hypocritical of me to say that but it happens with companies all the time. Hounding CS because marketing didn't pick your number out of their lucky hat seems silly/petty (not directed at anyone in particular).

// Two Cents

PS: Would appreciate a good discussion based on what I just said rather than being flamed.

I agree with the idea that "special offers such as this are a privilege not a right", but the way Telecom has worded/promoted this offer does not seem fair to the people who have not been selected for this offer. Some of the people who have commented on this thread have been loyal Telecom customers for years, nearly decades, and they haven't received this offer, even though Telecom want to 'thank' selected customers for being their landline/broadband provider.

If Telecom were to select the customers they sent this offer to based off a lucky dip draw, then it would be more fair in my opinion; but it seems unfair when other loyal customers are not selected for this offer when others are.

Seems like telecom are just stirring the pot by offering these offers to a select few. They well and truly know that word will spread like fire over forums, Facebook and Twitter thus creating a custom base at unrest.

Pretty poor marketing, Public relations.

this is a slap in the face!

Pretty sure it's only being offered to selected people. I got one but my neighbour didn't and we've both pretty much had the same setup with telecom. =\

They don't target current users at all.  I feel like left out that they don't treat there already customers with good perks, after all we pay them money right?

I don't think thats necessarily fair. I was cold called about 6 months ago with the opportunity to get double my data allowance for a year. The catch was I had to commit to them for 12 months, which at that stage I wasn't prepared to do (as I wasn't regularly exceeding my data cap). I regret not taking them up on that offer though, as now I do exceed it most months.

Although they aren't the only company that does this sort of thing. Fairfax also offers deals to some custeomers and not others. For example I was offered newspaper delivery for half price if I signed up to it, yet my neighbour who has subscribed for years wasn't offered any promotion. When I was a subscriber, they were offering special deals to non subscribers, yet I was missing out. So I cancelled my subscription, and told them this was the reason.

The way I see it, if they can offer these deals, then they are making too much money off those customers who aren't getting those deals. Hence those customers not getting the deal, are subsidising those who are.

I have no issue with giving special deals to entice new customers.

But, giving some existing customers free MB, while others miss out annoys me. I'm trying to figure out how they targeted customers with the deal.

I'm in Tauranga / Mt Maunganui area, anyone from around here get the offer?
