hio77: Should be an update that solves that in the next few days.

Update for Smart modem, Mesh Devices, or both?

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

The PM's with packet captures sent on Sept 8 are still unread hio77.

Very aware, awaiting the modem update to come out first

I have an issue with my Spark Smart Modem at the moment intermittently rebooting. I say it's rebooting cause the both the Internet and WiFi LEDs goes off temporarily when the modem reboots. Uptime status on the modem's web interface also resets the counter once I am able to access the modem again. There is no real pattern though. It could happen any time of the day, and would either get one or sometimes frequent reboots on a single day.

I rang Spark customer service about this issue and they sent me replacement modem thinking I just have a faulty one. Unfortunately I'm having the same problem with the replacement unit. Anyone else having the same problem? Just reading through the previous pages on this topic, Wi-Fi connection drop-outs, DHCP issues seem to be a common theme but not intermittent restarts on the device itself.

Note: Current firmware on the modem I have is: v6.00.15 build05

I understand there is a newer firmware that is going to pushed out soon, so I'm hoping that might fix the issue? or am I just unlucky that the original unit sent out to me and the replacement one ended up being both faulty.

That fixes the issues you have detailed yes. it will be 6.00.15 build16 for Spark and Skinny. 6.15.15 build16 for Bigpipe.

Even if i was to provide a file early, it requires backend setup as otherwise we will detect your running the wrong version and force it to update. The smart modem is very good about following that direction unlike huaweis that could be delayed in actually updating.

I do apologize for the delays in it actually coming out, there is a process that's really outside of my control. The team members working closely on it are chasing it very heavily.

I hate to hear modems were replaced for this, It's actually rare the feedback got to our team. Geekzone really is a great source for feedback :)

That is good to know that the upcoming firmware update fixes this restarting issue. Looking forward to it. I was previously using the Huawei HG659b modem which doesn't have this problem and was very stable for me. I switched to the Smart Modem though not long ago, mainly for better wireless coverage and the fact that it can accommodate more than 32 devices on Wi-Fi.

What is the id number for the Mesh unit update? I have one unit on 1.00.08 and another on 1.00.04.

1.00.08

Normally units update at about 4am.

I've double checked and the source file is fully updated so it should come down overtime.

I am on Skinny with the Smart Modem and bought a mesh unit in a Spark shop. The Mesh device is still on 1.00.04 and seems to have drop outs. Is there anything I can do to upgrade to 1.00.08, it has not automatically updated and does not do so after reboots.

thank you

I would avoid rebooting it if possible. It doesn't check for updates every night. Just leave it to do its thing, and it should find the update and flash it on its own.

Took the plunge and got two mesh units today - primarily to extend the signal to our back garden and sleepout.

Pretty good experience with set-up out of the box and a little bit of fiddling to get locations ideal for good coverage / solid blue light (wireless backhaul)...but overall I'm impressed and have solid bars where I need them.

Mesh units looked like they firmware upgraded at the initial set-up, but still at 1.00.04 - assume they will sort themselves out to 08 at some point on their own ? (Modem is on latest firmware 6.00.15 build 5)

Will see if I have some of the experiences of others ...but tbh the modem has been great over the last 3 months , so expect similar from the mesh units

Steve

Update to the above - one of the Mesh updated overnight. Odd only one, but see what happens over the next few days :)

Should be build 15. Pretty sure I sorted you with the latest before removing my access from sparks systems.

Skinny and bigpipe should be just around the corner.

Nope @hio77 - I'm with Spark and the version as of this morning on my Smart modem is v6.00.16 build01. It was v6.00.15 build05 before the upgrade today.
