catspyjamas:

Nope @hio77 - I'm with Spark and the version as of this morning on my Smart modem is v6.00.16 build01. It was v6.00.15 build05 before the upgrade today.

Ahh sneeky, they already got another build in since I left!

It's likely a version bump is all.

What's the firmware version please?

Should be build 15. Pretty sure I sorted you with the latest before removing my access from sparks systems.

Skinny and bigpipe should be just around the corner.

Thank you, @hio77. I was wondering if I had been left in the beta system and would not get the future firmwares for my devices.

My modem just updated to firmware v6.00.16 build01 today as well. Hopefully no more reboots like the previous one.

My Smart Modem firmware update checks 3 October.

I am with Skinny and use their supplied Smart Modem.

I also have a spare Spark Smart modem I bought off Trademe.

I just swapped the modems to see if they would update.

0945 Skinny 6.00.15b05

0957 Spark  6.00.15b05

0959 Spark  6.00.16b01

1002 Skinny 6.00.15b05

1050 Skinny 6.00.15b05

edit: fixed typo in last two Skinny lines

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

I have a smart modem from BigPipe, being used on a Spark VDSL connection. It is currently running 6.10.12 build 07 firmware, but to date has not updated. With this combination of modem provider / internet service provider can I expect this unit to update or do I need to purchase a Spark smart modem?

ashtonaut: Received the BigPipe version of this device today, set up and working with minimal hassle.

Two quirks/bugs:

1) DHCP assignments are set up as .64 and up. However, once I had set up a manual static IP at .100 for a particular MAC address, all subsequent DHCP assignments started at .101 and up. Is this by design? It’s not causing an issue but seems strange.

2) Overview > Connected devices often shows a blank list. But not always. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. Can’t figure out why. This is a bit of a pain.

Firmware is v6.10.12 build07.

Cheers

Has anyone else had the issues I've noted above? 6+ months later, and with updated firmware (now running BigPipe v6.10.14 build02), I still have both of these things occurring:

  1. DHCP assignments don't start at .64 like I have configured in the modem settings, they start from .102 (there are two fixed IPs assigned by the modem at .100 and .101.
  2. The list of connected devices is blank even though there are lots of devices connected.

Hey guys - just thought I’d mention this is not an official support medium for Spark, and @hio77 has left Spark now. If you do have issues you’re best to raise it with Spark themselves via the official support mediums.

Mesh isn't set to admin/admin, it's not made to be managed - Unless you run it in standalone mode.

in modem linked mode it mirrors the modem setings.

correct, however there are a few spark folk that do have reach to get feedback to the right places here.
