Just received and installed my smartmesh today.

However when I try to login to the web interface using the admin/admin passwords as shown in the manual i get:

Your Username or Password may have error. Please check it

? any pointers please?

Mesh isn't set to admin/admin, it's not made to be managed - Unless you run it in standalone mode.

in modem linked mode it mirrors the modem setings.

Ok thanks for that clarification, so how can I check what firmware version its running?

Strange. I can log in to my Mesh unit via it's IP address using username = admin, password = admin. And it's running with the Smart Modem.

I can see that it has replicated my Smart Modem's wifi settings.

Well my situation appears to have got worse... after initial installation when the Smart mesh appeared to be working.... I now find that it is stopping my Smart router from working... and no internet connection.

Turn the smart mesh off and my internet returns... turn smart mesh on.. and internet drops, and router appears to stop routing...??

Eeek. Not good. My only suggestion would be to unplug and reset them both to factory, leaving the Mesh unit unplugged and powered off until after you've got the Smart Modem configured and working well. Then plug the Mesh in to the modem with an ethernet cable and wait for it to configure. Or for a less drastic option, just reset the Mesh to factory.

Yeah thanks I will try just resetting the Smart mesh, as I have done a lot of configuration on the Smartmodem, that I dont want to have to work my way through again.

I do see on here that there appears to be a number of "issues" with these and was hoping (being too lazy to read through all 57 pages :( ) that it might be a known problem with a knownfix.

Cheers

My understanding was that there are fixes for some of the bigger issues in the latest firmware.

I was hoping that too but after more than two weeks my mesh unit is still on the old firmware....

Sorry, I was meaning the Smart Modem. I have no idea about the Mesh firmware.

I'm almost a week in now with 2 smart mesh installed. Took me a while to get them in the right position to make them daisy chain (rather than both trying to connect to the smart modem and the farthest getting weak signal - orange light), but once I got that right they have been faultless for almost 5 days and providing good coverage in my garden and sleepout. I need to wire them at some stage for stability, but I've been gaming online over the wifi in my sleepout with no issues.

One of the Mesh updated the first night to the latest .8 firmware , but the other is still on .4 for a week. Not sure why it hasn't triggered yet...but regardless performance is great. Smartmodem is on the latest build and also updated with no issues.

I have reset the Smart mesh and left it running for awhile. WiFi seems to be working good to begin with and then after about 2 hours it seems that some devices are loosing internet connection and Smart mesh led turns red.

Under "Access Points" in the Smart Modem, what do "Connection Status:" and "Connection Type:" for the Mesh unit say?

If not using Ethernet backhaul, maybe the WiFi signal between the Mesh and the Smart Modem is weak or perhaps there's a bunch of other people's WiFi networks in your area using the same frequencies?

Yep - as I said above I've got mine working ok with wifi backhaul, but it took a bit of fiddling to get the distances correct and a solid connection , but the fact that you are getting a good connection initially and then losing it completely (to red) indicates either some interference issues or possibly a problem with the Mesh?

I'm by no means an expert, I'm sure one of the peeps here will be able to talk you through a solution - but the more info you can give them around the set-up , distances , physical space etc will help. I also used a analyser app (on my phone) to help , which may highlight any nearby channel interference as well as signal strengths.

If anyone is looking for a Spark Smart Modem let me know - I've got one that I'm looking to sell on - new and in original box with all the bits.  Auckland (North Shore) based but happy to post it if need be.  Just PM me.

I stepped thru the setup again very carefully, and thought that this time it was all working good, however about 18 hours later I lost internet through the Smart Mesh AP. WiFi scanner showed the Smart Mesh AP was still sending out a good signal, but the smart modem could not see the smart mesh, even though the Smart Mesh still had the Blue LED lit up.

When I set it up the connection status page on the smart modem shows as "Good Connection" not excellent as per yours. I did notice that the connection between the smart modem and the mesh sometimes shows as 5G, and sometimes 2.4G, with signal strength at the smart mesh varying around -55dBm to - 60dBm.

the Smart modem is on the floor almost directly above the Smart Mesh, no more than 5 meters seperates the 2 modems, using a wifi connection between the units.

Using a Wifi scanner, shows no other nearby wifi aps on the same channel as either the smart modem or the Mesh on either 2.4 or 5G bands.

Im afraid that this Smart Mesh seems pretty Dumb!
