You know, you don't have to change DNS on the modem, you can do it through your LAN properties in the O/S.
Might be easier for some.....

mcraenz: I wonder if this is a paid attack by a competitor who wants to discredit Spark at what might be seen as a critical time for them as they rebrand/relaunch.

Surely it hasn't come to that, I left my tin foil hat at home today

littleheaven: Just wanted to say thanks to Gujal - have changed my Technicolour's DNS per your suggestions and we now have a stable connection again. I assume once everything is fixed I just turn the router off and on again to return to the standard settings?

Which DNS did you use, the website at Spark does not support what people are posting here.

I used the ones suggested in the telnet instructions, as one of the other posts said the ones on the Spark help page are the ones under attack. Seems to be working fine - a little slow but at least stable.

I have to say as my partner is reading those comments on FB she keeps saying "thank God you're such a geek," and I keep saying, "No, thank God I'm a geek and I know to check Geekzone because it's full of amazing geeks" :)

Thanks again Gujal and Rhys, you've made my day a lot more pleasant :)

Cheers. I have Uno Telly DNS settings in the Spark Router and some devices connect and others don't. Ipad no issues and Imac Will , Mac book wont and neither will Blackberry. Just an interesting observation.

It's getting particular tiring trying to work remotely with a Spark 4G connection where I can't change the DNS

A question regarding the DDos attack, why just spark?

So most DoS attacks by malware infect many machines across a wide range - ie many customers, many ISP's
But it seems only spark customers are complaining? What about the other infected machines using different DNS servers on other networks?

Or do other ISP's use rate limiting on DNS queries or other technologies?

I don't understand why 1 ISP appears affected?

couldn't tell you about xDSL, but on 3G/4G things are still intermittent
