I usually get the new iPhone from Apple NZ Online on day 1, even if I were to use Spark for this via online pre order I'd still need to go into store.

SIM Swapping as you say is wide open for fraud, hoping Spark can bring it to the App or an online portal verified by your login

Either way you will still need a second screen to scan the code and set up the device, either the old iPhone or a PC

I was a ex-Spark Retail Channel Employee, but I have recently purchased a XR and went into the store to have the SIM transfer over to ESIM.

I was the first one a the store to have it provisioned so it took a little while for the staff member to go through the instructions , but it works well and great!

I wonder how the uptake has been? if there is a surge of people transferring to ESIM that is been tracked, I left just before they launched.

Just switched to eSIM works a whole heap better then my dual sim Android phone. I have a grumble about the customer service and the failed provisioning (3hrs of no network connection) from the store but now it’s up and running I’m happy.

I'm looking forward to it being expanded to Skinny for the few times I'm out of 2degrees coverage and want to play Ingress or otherwise get data. The 7-day plan for $5 is convenient and will save me from having to carry and switch SIMs.

I went to Spark yesterday and they said I cannot get the Samsung 4G watch as I am using 2D pre-paid plan. They said I canot use 100% of the watch function unless I switch my phone plan to Spark as well. Is it true? Is there a way to get aorund it?

Thank you

I think the watch plan is linked to your phone plan so yes I believe you would require a spark phone plan.

Changed my iPhone XS to esim last week and now have an AT&T prepaid sim in the US. Working great with both numbers.

I applied online for a port over to spark esim from skinny, and I ordered the smart prepay plan 19 dollars. On spark website. Now the esim got activated this morning. I got a iPhone XS Max. I can make calls on esim, but I can’t use 3G or 4g data. Called spark, they told me esim is only available for open term plans, that’s why the prepay data doesn’t work on esim. Too bad. I can only make calls but can’t use data. Have to port the number back to skinny. But there is no sim number with the esim. What a mess I have done.

That doesn’t sound right. I have had my spark prepay number on esim for about 2 months and used data many times.

I think Sim number is in settings under general > about > ICCID

Never mind. I have just been to a physical spark store. And the lady helped me out, it was a mistake made by spark, and she told the technician to fix it. Within 5 minutes, my esim started working, now I can make calls and use data.

Hi all,

My friendly Spark Business account manager helped me migrate from physical SIM to eSIM. Seamless and painless, number switched over exactly on time and with minimum fuss. I am now enjoying carrying one phone (iPhone XR) with business calling on the eSIM and personal calling on the SIM.

Only slight gotcha I have found (and there may well be a solution to this?) is Voicemail. You can't select which Voicemail number to call unless you change the voice call default in Mobile data settings.

Cheers!

So. New iPhone time. Is the only way to transfer an existing esim from current iPhone to new iPhone a visit to a store?
