I just wanted to stream porn, but its too slow for that. I have to wait for it to buffer 100 times before the money shot, this isn't good and can become pretty frustrating.

I've found that megaporn videos stream quite well tho but xvideos is very slow, which is unfortunate as xvideos has better content, good luck finding a decent FFM on megaporn :(

I use rapidshare premium for most downloads and its pretty fast, i may have to find a rapidporn forum and get my download on!

I would agree if it was only me using the net here.

but once you've got 4 users (and 4 different computers) that are all know how to use an internet browser + torrents etc, its hard to control them as well.
And a couple of the other users are teenagers, and have no concept really of how much data this file will use etc.
and trying to explain it to them well.. I might as well be talk to a hollow tree.

Id blame the porn, eats through bandwidth and you dont even notice, switch to mags and see how long your bandwidth lasts :)

In this case invest and get a router that can limit bandwidth usage.

Now you see why some companies launch plans with "managed bandwidth". If you can't ask four people in your household to limits their use, how can you possibly imagine 100,000 people will "cooperate"? Therefore ISPs do what you are being suggested to do: manage the connections and limit per user...

hmm, alright. I do understand what you're saying. This is one of the reasons why unlimited plans wouldnt work too well, is because people would just naturally download stuff for the sake of it, which in turn causes congestion at time where it isnt needed etc etc etc.

Anyways, I might start a new thread to see what router would be appropriate.

Switched to a Pro plan, finally internet is usable again when I actually want to use it... 1MB/s downloads maxing my connection speed. Will just have to keep my downloads under 40GB.

I concur with the porn statement. I was trying to watch some earlier and lets just say I was ANGRY.

Infact some things arent even loading now. Torrents and other downloads are going around 2kbs, this is awful, even Go Large wasn't this bad.

How close are you to your local box?

I know my mate who is on Big Time is maxing his connection out 98% of the time, which is bloody good. but then hes only around 250-500mtrs from green box.

anyone on bigtime and stressing out, guarantee this will releive some stress. Always makes me laugh and forget Telecom for 3 mins. I know its off topic, but I know this was off an add in NZ somewhere, was it yellow pages or Telecom? Ironic a little but its a great tune. :D

Telecom must be promoting piracy.

I can't listen to my favorite radio station via port 80, yet I could download a P2P file at 1mb/s.

taken me 20 mins so far to load a 4:03 minute video. UGH!!! I would switch back to 20gb a month, but its school holz, and I just wont last on 20. Blows. How about telecom try releasing the throttling for a week or so, and see what happens? They have nothing else to lose, its not like it can get any slower than it already is... I hope
