PoHq: So. New iPhone time. Is the only way to transfer an existing esim from current iPhone to new iPhone a visit to a store?

Yes.

While it technically could be done over the phone, process requires you to physically visit the store.

Simply comes down to the best methods to stop Social engineering being used to obtain access to a victims sim.

Really? I would have thought a backup/restore of the phone would do it.

A quick google says not it can’t be done via backup. It’s a visit to a store on iPhone launch day to activate an esim before you can use the phone.

That ain’t going to work if you’re overseas and need to replace your phone. I’ll just get my Spark Digital rep to do it for me via email if that is the case though. I’ll find out on Friday.

Standing in a queue of iPhone customers on launch day in a Spark store. To activate an esim. Where else would you rather be.

I am trying to decide if I should order my iPhone through Apple or Spark in order to use the eSIM for my personal number and nano SIM for work number.

Early parts of this thread mentioned that you had to have purchased your phone through Spark in order for them to port a number to an eSIM. Has this changed to any iPhone Xs and up that has the capability. Have Spark started supporting eSIM in the Apple Watch.

While you are looking and we are talking about Spark and Apple, why don’t we have visual voicemail yet. It’s been a while now right?

Thanks in advance.

Alot of work is required to offer that.

I personally see it certainly as the future though :)

Is there any progress on this coming to the Apple Watch? Mostly because it means Apple will then bring the more premium Watches to NZ (such as stainless steel and the new titanium modes)

Spark stated on their Twitter work is underway but gave a 6 month timeline.

Did you manage to get a eSIM on your Spark Digital connection? I have asked for this before and been told still not possible. Reps in-store won't do it either.

Already working. You need to go in-store to do it.

I’ve been through this process whilst overseas ,and after being told I had to physically visit the store, they did say they could do it via chat.

I didn’t pursue it as I couldn’t be bothered going through the process of explaining, getting transferred etc.

Also be aware if you go into the shop and follow the process they tell you you need two devices.
They send you an email with a QR code, so far so good, then tell you to go into settings and “add mobile plan”
Unfortunately this opens up the camera so you have no way to scan the QR code without a second device

If they are following the correct process they should print off the QR code for you so that you can scan it.
