Are people here who have Max Fibre seeing the full promised 850/500? I'm not, even with a brand new Spark Smart Modem I bought yesterday.

I'm getting around 270/400 on Ethernet and 500/400 on WiFi.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Start a new thread. This will almost certainly be an issue with your equipment or testing methodology.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Quite happy to start a new thread but not sure that's necessary - surely my question is on topic here.

Fair enough. I've now raised it with Spark so I think I'll wait and see what transpires before launching further into print.

Nothing will transpire as fault is with your equipment or testing methodology. Your wifi is super anyway so no fault found there, what do you expect??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Silly question sorry. Just changed to Fibre max from Fibre 100.

My desktop has the following wifi card.

AzureWave Wi-Fi AW-CB304NF (Realtek® RTL8821CE)

  1. WIFI 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, supporting 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band
  2. BLUETOOTH 4.2
  3. Support for 11ac wireless standard and up to 433 Mbps data rate
    * Actual data rate may vary depending on environment and equipment.

I'm assuming i'll need a new wifi card to make use of the new speeds?

Based on that, i've got a couple of questions.

  1. Do i get a usb wifi adapter, pcie wifi adapter or a router? Is there a difference and which is better?
  2. Alot of them say (5GHz: 867Mbps) - is that ok or do i need one that supports higher Mbps?
  3. I'll be using a HG659b - i assume this will be fine for fibre max?

Thanks in advance

Don't use wifi. Use ethernet assuming your PC has a 1GB network card.

What kind of router can you get off them? Currently with 2degrees and have a Fritzbox, would that need returned to 2degrees if I went to Spark, as I am very interested in the Max Fibre plan.

They are now shipping the Spark Smart Modem 2 - https://www.spark.co.nz/shop/internet/spark-smart-modem/
Really nice devices. I use it for backup wireless so not my primary but lots of options and decent spec. Its a little big though!

I'm about to do the switch online from Unplan Fibre to Max Fibre, and I'm bundling a modem with it. Can anyone confirm what the model name/no. is for the new Smart Modem 2? The orignal Smart Modem is known as V9517.

Reason I'm asking is that the order summary page says that Spark will be shipping me a V9517 - White v2 modem, so I take it that's the SM2?

Seems the Smart Modem 2 is only shipping for wireless 4G customers at this stage as per here:  https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=289942&page_no=3#2793349

Unless something has changed since then...
