PeebZ: +6483083210 is the voice mobile access # on XT

Thanks PeeBz, hmm still getting rejected with a cannot save changes to network message.

I'll keep playing around with the settings. Also tried 006483083210 and no go either.

Tried plan old 083210?

The + string should work, maybe the phone's adding some extra dialing numbers?

Hmm not sure why it isnt working. The other thing i tried was holding down the 1 key and it prompted me to enter a voicemail number so i tried both 083210 and +6483083210, pressed Done, but it wouldnt save.

phatbloke has the same issue so will be interesting to see if he has resolved this issue.

Ive saved mine as a contact so im sorted there, but would be nice to have it attached to the number 1 on the keypad.

I have tried everything Damager has tried. I assume it is probably a WM6.5 prob as never tried the phone with 6.1 but wouldnt expect it to leave the shop without this working.

I read up on XDA-Dev some registry hacks in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Vmail] The correct number is in there and it looks as though atempting to set the number in phone settings puts the number in the reg but not to the network or something.

Yeps, nosied the registry also and seen it's listed under PhoneNumber1. Tried also setting the number under Default and also PhoneNumber2, and no go. Google brings many similar issues where many users with various handsets receive the same error message when trying to save a number in the voicemail number field.

I think the key is looking at the stock telecom rom to see what registry settings it has in the voicemail fields.

Damager: I just tried to set the voicemail number as well and i got the same error message. Maybe instead of 083210, it needs to be in a different format?

If you have the phone number already there then what you want is to create a new DWORD value RegOverridesSIM set to 1.

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Vmail\RegOverridesSIM]

If the SIM contains the number then you can set it to 0, otherwise set to 1 to use the number in the registry.

Thanks freitasm, that worked!!!

I created the new DWORD as you suggested. Then went to the communications tab and it then populated the voicemail number tab.

The interesting thing is, the +642783083210, didnt work on the 1 speed dial, just went disconnected tone :(

I went back to the registry and changed the voicemail number back to the usual 083210. Went back to the voicemail settings which then populated the 083210.

Now it works perfectly :-)

Thanks again freitasm!

Fantastic, just changed the reg and its all go. Even added a pause and my pin number in the settings and that works a treat.
I used the voicemail number +6483083210 as PeebZ said rather than 083210

What are the issues, if one was to source this phone from overseas?
I found this site and the price is certainly attractive? http://www.nowbuygadgets.cc.cc/s1p_HTC_Touch_Pro2_T7373_Smartphone_Black_Grey_Unlocked_273534

I would imagine the first thing that comes to mind is
(a) Would you ever see a phone after you have sent them your money and
(b) The device would no longer have a warranty if it did arrive

but what other issues are there?

You can't be serious? That smells bad... A company with a Hotmail email account? That's the start of the end.

I agree that it is very suspicious. I investigated the site and it has only been up and running less than a week and if you google their Customer Testimonials then you will find the exact same scripts, names and pictures on other web sites who are trying to sell you something?

However my question was more to the Product that you could receive. Is a Taiwanese / Chinese T7373 still going to work in New Zealand.

@freitasm ? I have read your earlier comments about models suitable for telecom as opposed to Vodafone, so you do not have to cover that again.
It more a question would the phone work here ok? Would it be missing any features?

@alw

All the HTC Touch Pro 2 handsets are either made in asia r europe via HTC's approved manufacturing plants.

They will work in NZ with no problems. However, depending on what network you wish to use it on, will determine the model required.

eg Vodafone - T7373, Telecom - T7381. Parallel Imported in NZ do sell the T7373 model.

Telecom sell the T7381 model.

For peace of mind, best to buy from a local outlet to ensure they can offer a return to base warranty. Buying overseas means warranty issues will require the handset sent overseas and potentially opens a can of worms.

There are several reputable sellers on TradeMe selling the T7373. There are many second hand T7381s on trademe also.

alw - I'm at work so quick reply on here. I will reply to your PM after work at some stage.

Cheers

@Damager
It was only after I PM'd you that I found this thread. All my unanswered questions have now been elimated from the information I was able to collect from this thread. So I'm good now thanks!
