Wow, that would be great! I'm looking at getting one, assuming i'd have to go with VF. Can you be any more specific about a release date?

Win mobile 6.5 officially will be released on 6th OCT. If Telecom releases the phone before that then it will not have 6.5 loaded. However as you may already know, HTC will provide a free 6.5 upgrade in the same week.

Do whatever you want to do man.

You can get the generic model right now that will be best suited for Vodafone which is 3G WCDMA 900/2100. The XT model will be 850/2100 which is currently available for Telstra and soon to be for AT&T.

You can actually get both of these models via many reputable online retailers. I was ready to get a Telstra model but I'll be waiting now for the Telecom.

Not exactly sure of the release date but I'll try to find that out.

Hopefully it does come with the 6.5 upgrade if it is released after 6 October. If not then Telecom should have a update available as they would need to provide an update specifically with their customizations.

Just played with the 3G WCDMA 900/2100 version at Parallel Importers, they said they couldn't get the 850 version. I'll have a look around online.

Yes, the 6.5 upgrade from HTC sounds great. What customizations would you be missing out on without the Telecom upgrade? Hopefully the new Telecom will be a little quicker with their ROM upgrades than the cdma network.

Just seach for T7381(Model for the 850/2100 version) and you'll find many results. The easiest place is via ebay

The telecom customizations would be things like the link to Tworld etc i believe.

Just heard from our IT guys today that Telecom have apparently indicated the Touch Pro 2 will be launching on October 5th, with pricing details in the week prior.

and the reason for the delay is the fact they will be releasing it with 6.5

They cannot sell the device before 6th of October if it indeed is going to be released with 6.5

Global launch for 6.5 is 6th October. Telecom is not special to release it a day early.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I'm guessing that the new models (assuming it isnt just the touch pro 2) will be announced the same day that windows mobile 6.5 is announced. the phone would then perhaps available for sale from oct 13th.

come on telecom, show the new goods already :D

So they are releasing the device in 7 days with no marketing, no word, and no pre orders?

Either complete b/s, or terrible marketing by head office...

I'd go with the former...

Do any XT marketing people frequent these boards?

No it's not the former, that's definite. The TP2 is on it's way shortly, that's guaranteed

The only speculation is when it will be released. Much was made about the lack of windows mobile devices for XT at launch . With WM6.5 being released next month, it was probably a wise move to hold off until after this time.

We're all assuming that it wont be long after the WM Oct 6 launch date, but we may be wrong, the TP2 and perhaps other may be released later in October. There doesnt necessarily have to be some major marketing by XT here. We have just found out in advance that's all.

@filiup, there's a few Telecom people on here and im sure they read these forums all the time. Naturally they'll be bound by confidentiality until the right time. Meanwhile we're free to speculate on the "when".

Otherwise about AU$770 from aussie ebay, then a flash from xdadev to 6.5 and to remove the Telstra stuff (heavy presence seen in the demo on their website)?

Parallel Importers said something about phones being made for certain networks, and not others, i assume he meant 'network locked', but said it was something different, and that phones can be tailored to each 'new gen' network, so that it doesn't work with other networks on the same frequency. Anyone heard of this? Making me hesitant to import a phone that could be worth nothing here!
