Did the users opt in? Multiple emails sent. i got an email later for one I forgot, so opted in. I'm not migrated yet though

I opted in in November 2016. I received a few emails since confirming the opt-in and saying that all is going according to plan.

I got switched over last night, none of my inbox emails have been moved and I cannot access them currently, Spark support says they need to escalate and there's nothing else I can do.

Just now I received an email from Spark into my new inbox saying the migration process has gone smoothly and to start enjoying the new xtra mail. Currently the only email I have in my inbox.

That's not good. :/ I hope they can recover them for you.

I literally just received the email saying I will be moved sometime between 13th & 16th March. After reading of your experience and what 1101 said, I'm thinking I might download Thunderbird and POP my xtra inbox to Thunderbird. That way I'll have a back up of my old emails in Thunderbird if anything goes wrong. I currently use IMAP in Outlook, but they won't be preserved in Outlook if they disappear from the online inbox. My xtra account is nearly 15yrs old and I only delete emails I'm certain I won't want anymore, so my inbox is rather large.

I would bet they didnt.

However , when I opted in for my xtra a/c, the opt in process did not go smoothly , leaving me wondering if the opt in
went through at all. I didnt even get a opt in confirmation email till many weeks later .
So , Im not surprised if some got confused with the whole process

I am getting a lot of bounce notices since the migration.  Mainly to UK email addresses.  Not problem sending to Gmail and various NZ addresses.  Some UK accounts consistently bounce my emails, and others about 50%.  These are all sent from my desktop using Outlook 2016

I remotely support my 90 yo mother-in-law who uses xtramail with thunderbird and on an iPad.

She has been sent yet another e-mail saying

You must update your email settings.

They sent several such emails about September last year, and her settings were changed after the first one.  On the second she tried to change the settings again and an expensive mess resulted (I don't know how to remotely support an iPad).  The second and subsequent messages should have been worded that indicated only one change was necessary.

So, if the settings were changed correctly last year, do they need to be changed again?  Asking her to check the settings on the iPad risks it being screwed up.

Does anyone know what happens to newer xtra email addresses? eg ones created end of last year and this year. Supposedly they can't be migrated according to their website. So I assume that once yahoo switches off, those accounts and data will disappear?

The accounts will exist on the new system but messages, contacts etc. will not be moved over. The facility to create new accounts has been suspended since very early on this year (or the end of last year).

Okay. i have a few accounts setup during that time, and there hasn't been any info from Spark about this. They may need to send out affected clients info, to prevent them losing any data.

My father has been migrated to the new XtraMail platform; and has a few issues.  (Note: He's a 4 hour drive away, and I'm trying to support him remotely via phone.  Fun!)

  • The first (all his contacts didn't seem to get moved over) I've resolved by importing a CSV file onto the new platform; nice that it supports that.
  • The second that neither of us can figure out is how to mark something as "spam".  Surely there's an interface for that??  This is a bright shiny-new platform based on a premier solution that prides itself on SPAM management, and there's no obvious way to mark emails as being (or NOT being) Spam?  What am I missing here?
  • Thirdly: Is there some way of creating a distribution list out of multiple contacts in his contact list?  I've found the interface for creating a DL, but there seems to be NO "point-and-click" ability to select DL members; it looks like you need to enter their emails one-by-one.  Surely not!!!   He had 15 or so DLs with up to 20 recipients (he's a major coordinator for the local U3A group).  Re-entering all that "one address at a time" (even via cut/paste) is going to be painful...

I don't use the platform myself.  Any help/suggestions welcomed!

Edit: P.S. - One more: Is there a published URL directly to the login page?  Couldn't see it anywhere - had to go via the "status" page, enter his address, read the blurb about successful migration, then enter the password to get into the webmail plaform.  I'm sure this is obvious, but again, he couldn't see it.

Yesterday I got my warning email saying my move will happen between 27 march & 2nd April.

BUT now xtra is treating any emails with PDF attachments as spam "The server response was: Message rejected due to possible spam content"

Had to send the email from the yahoo web mail server including PDF attachment (349kb size) with copy to myself using another xtra email address. I then received a Failure to Deliver from MAILER-DAEMON@yahoo.com for that xtra address though the recipient address went ok.

554: 5.7.1 Message rejected due to possible spam content; inetSocketAddress=sonic306-53.consmr.mail.ne1.yahoo.com/66.163.189.115:0

NOTE: I am using Mac OS latest with Mac Mail 10 all settings as per xtra instruction page

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I assume he's wanting all this via webmail.
Then the obvious answer would be to use Outlook , not webmail.

btw, Ive not had a single spam since the changeover. :-) Its a non issue now.
