mrscullen89: takes it take a day to set it up or something. my old phones number is gone so i assume it worked

I have real issues with my switchover. My old phone went out, but new one failed to come up, and I got the "network restricted" issue that Zalman reported.

I was on GoOneBill. So the plan was to switch that to CDMA prepay, then upgrade to XT. There was a Fail along the way, and 24 hours later I went in, and my number wasn't attached to anything. Also lost all texts etc. from that period. Working all good now. Much more like setting up a new computer than a phone. Talk about a palaver! But great once you're there.

Also finding battery life a bit iffy, although currently using lots of WiFi

How long is your battery lasting I had a real problem with that but have got it sorted now
Try turning off location services see if that helps

mrscullen89: well how are you meant to change it then? everyone who switched to XT wouldnt have been connected at the time?

I can still connect to the network without having anything in the apn it was defaulting to 02 (strange)
but you should be able to make call etc just no data without the apn I could be wrong but thats how it was for me

My sim worked right away for txts but data didn't work for about 4 hours... I had problems changing my APN to begin with but had version 2.2.0, by the time I upgraded to 2.2.1 I could change the APN but not sure if that was software related or if it was that the sim had finally activated.

I could change the APN before I was connected. I just couldn't connect (Final proof of Telecom fail was when my UK orange simcard hooked straight up to Vodafone). Having said that, they were very helpful and apologetic, and the actual service so far has been great.

Also, I added the carrier settings patch for XT (although that was before I had the simcard sorted out).

I had O2 as well. I was briefly freaking out that I'd bought a 2nd hand device that had been bought overseas. But then I double checked. Twas bought locally. Just odd!

Over 12 hours, but not that long. Will try disabling location services. I feel like I've been playing with it an unreasonable amount that won't help.

ohh lol thats not that bad considering its on 3g all the time uses more battery life
mine was lasting 2-5 hours just in standby and the back of it was getting very warm

I have the same problem as orid. asked, I bought my iPhone from vodefone it's a 16gb 3G, it's been unlocked (if that means conecting it to my itunes?) and I added the APN is internet.telecom.co.nz and my 3G is enabled, I think this is all the info I need to give about it. I went into the telecom store yesterday to get a new xt sim card, they set it up by putting my old 027 number onto it and told me it had to activate? and would take about 4 to 8 hours, the next day it still wasn't working and went back to telecom they said there was a problem and so they're fixing it now and trying to activate the sim again. There is still no conection, my old phone that had the 027 number on it is still working ( and that shouldnt if the iphone was ) .
And the msg. says "Restricted Network Your selected  cellular network is restricted. You can chose a different network in settings."
I choose Telecom and it says the same thing.

Please help :(
