Could anyone please confirm that the price for this plan?is it $60 or $70 per month?as I read on NZ Herald website is $60 but on the Stuff website it say $70 per month so I get confused.

Incorrect - Go large was not limited to 3.5mbit down, either by profile, or by the nominal 128kbit up. It is perfectly possible to get just over 9mbit out of Go Large with the 128kbit upstream.

Also wasn't Go Large before ADSL2 was launched? How could you get 9mbit out of ADSL1? You can't even get 8mbit out of ADSL1 except in the lab

Go Large customers were upgraded to ADSL2+ profiles when they got cabinetised... Personally my Go Large line is currently connected at 15xxx/160...

And yes, I have actually got over 8mbit sustained, and touched 9mbit out of Go Large in the past - using TCP. (Multithreaded FTP download of uncompressed DV file)

Admittedly this was well after midnight, and it's not always that quick - but I've personally never had any issues with my speeds from Go Large.

Right, I'm signing up to this as soon as I can get rid of my Exchange server from my longue (no static IP :)

So, this will be $70 for Big Time and $42 for phone rental? $112 in total? I'm paying $70 for naked DSL with XNET plus for some reason their billing system is out of wack and keeps charging me for 40GB ($1/GB)a month but thats wrong and if I ring in they fix it for the 5 or 10GB it actually is but I can't watch youtube it buffers all the time. I went to change to Orcon but I saw another thread saying now they are having youtube buffering issues as well, and have been wondering what to do about my home broadband for a while, it was actually becoming a hard question!!!

So I think really I'll be paying the same, but won't have to worry about billing issues, and from what I'm hearing from those already on Go Large the speeds are pretty good as well, some dude was doing 170GB last month, I wonder if all the XNET 75GB free downloads leaches will flock across...

I think I'm sold.

Meh I'll stick to my Go Large, its cheaper and throttled not so much (torrents go at about 900k all the time)

Hahaha no you wont.. all go large customers are being forced off the plan! It pays to actually read the thread before you start posting in it

And as for your statement about 900k on go large, dont know about that one! Impossible with their traffic shaping, you would be doing damn well to get anymore than 50k out of it in peak time

the 900k raised my eyebrow also.. perhaps he meant 900 kb/s... but 900 kB/s.. i agree.. whatever :D

well ive been with snap a while and this bigtime plan looks the goods.. all my downloads are set to go between 2am and 6am, so the shaping isnt a biggie and i usually just surf during the 7pm to 10pm timeframe.

might bring my phone over, its been about 5 years since i have had phone/broadband with telecom so hmm decisions decisions. i'll be saving at least 50.00 a month by my rough calculations.

ill wait for the feedback from those going on it :)

Heh. My usage on Go Large ADSL1 for December was 170gb.

And how many hours a day did you have to leave your PC running for. I average around 120GB per month and never leave my PC on over night and mostly only download on the weekends.

My computer is on pretty much all the time, but not always downloading stuff. We have 4 people in the house using the net :)

And yea, 900kB/s is possible in theory, but never seen it happen in practice with ADSL1. You'd have to be connected to your DSLAM by like 2 meters of wiring :P

Fastest I've ever got is 500kB/s, downloading from Microsoft.

500k is the fastest ive ever got off adsl1 too.. microsoft.com is good for 1.2mB/s at work though on adsl2.. also can get that off amds website when downloading radeon drivers, not that they are that big, down in less than a min lol..

I can get 680-700k on a good day on torrents
adsl1
but I am barely a block away from the exchange may have something to do with it
can't wait untill they upgrade to adsl2 in September

same here.. 500 kBs max on ADSL1. Cabinet is now ADSL2+ enabled and can get a reasonably consistent 1400 kB/s from Rapidshare or Microsoft. My downstream line attenuation is 5 :-)
