blingjug: Hey guyz, i know i might be a bit late in posting here..
But everyone has been buying these from www.mobicity.com.au?
Did anyone notice www.mobicity.co.nz ?
And can anyone confirm that the phone listed here: http://www.mobicity.co.nz/htc-desire.html
will work on XT? it seems to have the right frequencies but states it's not recommended for xt customers.
But the link to the XT version doesn't work: http://www.mobicity.co.nz/htc-desire-XT.html
Thanks.
UnitedWeFall:
Anyway, it won't work.. The freqs for that phone are:
GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, 3G 900, 3G 2100
Needs to be 3G 850, 3G 2100. This is because XT uses WCDMA, not GSM.
You'll find it might work in main cities where 2100mhz is used by XT, but it won't work anywhere else.

Old3eyes
UnitedWeFall:Wow they're in NZ now.. good to know..
old3eyes: Just wish these manufacturers would take a leaf out of Apple's iPhone 4 book and make quad and 3g fones..

UnitedWeFall:tinytimmay: Hey Chaps
has anyone checked their phone for an update? Settings
-->About phone --> System Software updates?
It says that there is an update avaliable that will take the phone from 1.15.405.4 to 1.21.405.2. Has anyone applied this? and if you did, did you have to rename it to update.zip and move it to the root of the sdcard?
I haven't got it because i'm running a custom ROM, but if you use the built in updater it's all done automatically.
blair003: I flashed the "[ROM] Rooted Official HTC Android 2.2 (FroYo) ROM [Market issue fixed]" and it is running well. I used ROM Manager (from android market) and it was pretty easy. I also updated the radio ROM using the ROM manager.
The 2.2 update is good, it is significantly faster in my view.
I'm still far from impressed with the cell reception of the desire though. Having come from an iPhone 3gs where I got signal in most places at my house, the desire signal at best skips in and out, and in many places doesn't get any reception at all.
