National and International still broken - I'm going to be pushing for compensation or raising hell with the telecommunication ombudsman. This truly is pathetic, a multibillion dollar company can't even get the most basic things working properly.

No, you don't go home until you've fixed the problem.

Your residential internet connection is a best effort service with no guarantee or performance or reliability.

Hate to play devils advocate here but you appear to be suffering from a severe case of unwarranted self importance and unrealistic expectations.

Where did I state I some how demand unrealistic levels of reliability or consider myself of extreme importance?

This fiasco has been part of a long list of problems with Telecom and Telecom people seem to be oblivious to just how horrible their service is. It has nothing to do with having unrealistic expectations it is about Telecom delivering at least a level of service that a competent organisation of their size should be able to deliver without breaking a sweat.

Edit: Yes I have worked at an ISP - and we didn't get out until 5am the next day until the issue was resolved; angry customers are hardly good agents for positive PR.

Funny I've been on Telecom for ADSL for around a year and I don't remember a long list of service problems.

Previously I was on Telstraclear, before that Xnet and before that Vodafone... and by far Telecom has had the least problems.

Other ISP's have had issues for months (see Orcon & Slingshot currently, Xnet in the past and Telstraclear with their youtube saga).. Telecom have an issue for one day only affecting some customers on some sites and people start getting hysterical.

Care to list some of those problems related to their broadband service, or demonstrate what the basic things are that they can't get right? Because I can't recall any major issues in a long time, and a look at the Telecom forum on here will also show there have not been constant or major complaints or issues.

If you've worked at an ISP then you should know that it's a best effort service as Ragnor explained. Yes it is a pain and frustrating when it does go down, but the reality is issues do occur from time to time with every ISP in every country in the world, and jumping up and down and talking about complaining to the ombudsman isn't going to change that.

Yea all good for me now too, websites are back. But apparently we are going through Migration for the our cabinet, Speeds have dropped to 1.3mb down, sync at 1.5mb and 900kb up.

Anyone have an idea how long migration takes? for four people this speed is nearly unusable!

No, I am in Christchurch (Parklands) and it still does not work. I have issues on almost all sites, international and NZ. On TradeMe some images won't load. Geekzone loads sometimes. Ebay works half-way (some images don't load). Same on almost all international websites. Amazon and some others seem back on.

I would say this is not related then, the cache farm we have was put into bypass last night and would only be affecting int sites.

You could try changing your DNS server settings from Telecom to Comodo

Preferred    156.154.70.22
Alternative  156.154.71.22

http://www.comodo.com/secure-dns/

Still having issues, ran it through the 'is it down for everyone or is it just me' - the website is up so the problem resides with Telecom.

All international sites previously reported as failing are now working correctly and quickly too.
