Well I seem to keep getting problems-maybe its just getting the kinks sorted out for a long time of perfect internet... (maybe that's a bit hopefully)

Anyway, I have seen a few posts like this but they seemed a bit old... Anyway just over the past couple of days the internet has been seemingly slow... Speedtest show our normal downloading speed etc... but the webpages are taking ages.

Some load really quickly, others not... I couldn't access www.amazon.com (although I could access .com/books etc (one of the long urls on google for amazon)) for example-just wouldn't load.
Now this is on all computers. My laptop is doing this and the desktops just the same. Google chrome (and also firefox when I tried using it-I think) has been loading only every 2nd page. The others just come up with the could not load the page thing.

So what does the problem sound like...?

I'm getting the same thing today as well - sites loading slowly or not at all. It looks like the Telecom cache rearing it's ugly head again. They must be adding more sites to it.

Sounds like someone has run something or accidentally installed something from a website and got the computer infected with software that hi-jacks websurfing... not necessarily the case here, but I have seen similar symptoms with hijacking software.

Install some software (hijackthis) and check for spurious software.

I just ran SUPERAntispyware and it didn't find too much - just some cookies etc...

Yeah - suspect that it may be a Telecom issue is multiple people having same issue, rather than hijacking software.

it must be more telecom orientated cause our desktop is windows and my laptop is mac and they both have the same problem. Plus only did a scan of the desktop around three or four days ago (both trend micro and malware bytes)...

(I am hoping for a telecom issue cause that could mean that it would be fixed soon...?)

Anyway the desktops just been buggy and really (really) annoying me. Fresh start, wil do a clean install of XP and start from scratch (though that's another issue)

Grrr, I've lost count of the number of links I've clicked on today to go to a site and nothing happens - it just hangs.

Many websites for me are either slow or do not load at all.

It is rather annoying.  Seems to be international websites that are causing me problems.

Times like these I wish there was some way to move ISP's but keep the old email going with xtra - that is the one thing holding me back from moving, the fact there are heaps of people who know my xtra email address (had it for almost 7-8 years) and it would be a giant pain to change.

Anyone got an tip on how to move but keep the old xtra email address?

Was having major issues with Flickr yesterday which is ironically a Yahoo! service. Lots of non-loading thumbnails, pages that would hang -- I thought I had somehow corrupted my Flickr account but viewing it today from work (not Telecom ISP) everything is fine.

Telecom please fix this.

Been having the same issue here, what appears to be hijack malware, but I have run 3 different tools including malwarebytes, all found nothing but there are still issues. Oddly rebooting my modem did fix some sites, but others are sitting waiting for ill directed components to load. My guess also is something has gone wrong with the caching software.

We don't add sites to the cache we add customers, and we haven't done that for the last few months.
Of course that doesn't stop transit providers changing routes so that traffic patterns change and what was fine is now broken.

I will take a look at the cache farm and post back though.

Of course i presume that people are logging faults when they are certain its a Telecom issue? If not then please do it helps us see patterns sometimes:)

Of course if you can provide some details like:

  • Full url

  • Error is any

  • Observed behaviour

  • TCPtraceroute if possible

PM it to me so i can check it.
Regards

Paul

Same problems here in Christchurch. I cannot access some websites, including Ebay, Amazon etc. Some other websites can be accessed, but pictures or CSS don't load, or load partially. Approximately half of the links from http://news.google.com/ (whether New Zealand or international websites) don't load.  It's been like that for over 24 hours.Same on both computers on my network. The PCs use different antivirus software.
