lokhor: What modem is the Telecom Rom using?

D0LP4

Don't forget I9100T users, you can always use ICS launchers like Apex or Nova if Touchwiz is an annoyance.

Lobster: Got my update through Kies last night aswell. Phone is a Telecom Galaxy S2 I9100T but I am on a Vodafone contract/sim (seems irrelevant, only the phone model seems to matter). Checked to see if it was available through the phone menu options but nope. Plugged in and checked Kies and there it is. Update took all of 15 minutes.

I should add that I have a 2degrees SIM and still got the update via Kies too. Nothing we didnt already know, but sometimes its helpful to spell these things out.

Anyone got it on handset update menu yet? Dont have kies installed and im wondering if being rooted breaks the handsets own update checking.

Hmm. last time I installed kies it was pretty invasive with stuff on startup and file extensis and stuff. Updates ok from a VM at all?

Hmm. First time I've connected the phone to the computer and all that happens when I plug it in is that the phone asks me if I wantto open clock or tunein radio then brings up the silly Samsung voice control app asif I had tapped home twice.

Will try another cable later today but I hope my USB isn't stuffed

Uh oh, first update failed, asked me to restart phone and restart update, halfway through second update I went to change a nappy and laptop battery went flat and turned off.

Less than ideal, lets try again

Ok, its done after far too much time spent with the found new hardware dialog onscreen and the resulting other dialog it brings.

Now, to re-root it, anyone got any pointers to what to use?

I flashed the new modem on my Wanamlite rom and upload speed has been greatly improved.

Any issues with data loss on the phone through the upgrade or are all apps working as expected.

Sadly on Kies for Windows appears to be supported. No luck for OTA or Mac Kies users.

I can't get it to create folders so I can organise my numerous apps. When I go create folder a grey box comes up and freezes. In updating some apps the update fails due to 'package file is invalid' and I have to try several times before update will install. It now automatically creates a shortcut that I have to go delete when installing an app as well. Not liking the new keyboard either but I will get used to it,

Phew griping over, guess it's like upgrading anything - just got to get used to and adjust to changes

And the answer is Android 4.0.3

But I see this AAp news app has been installed as well. The one that was on Fair Go last nite..
Now to see how to get rid of it..
