It can still be used but you won't get the free data or calls.

i am not happy how this is worked out SKINNY

1. buys skinny direct on 7sep

2. delivers on 8 sep morning

3. activates on friday  9 sep

4. sim problem doesn't recognize sim in 3  different phones , skinny says for sim replacement called on friday. they will post me blank sim. (no tracking number provided)

5. calls 12 sep to make sure if the sim was on way and why i didn't get over night delivery like before .skinny says sims on the way.

6. 14 sep sparks deactivated my sim card number is ported to skinny automatically apparently . skinny sim has not turned up :(

7. now i have no phone and no skinny sim , rings skinny after 30m of in between waiting times , sims been couried but has delayed somewhere after tracking number is finally given

8. waits for skinny sim no phone activat as of this time

wouldn't need to do  B#t#hing if you had delayed the port over from spark ....maybe faster courier times

yes i am rural but it came overnight delivery the first time wheres the hold up now.??...

should i ring up spark get my number ported back ? or its nothing u can do :(

disappointed

Obviously I'm very sorry to hear of your poor experience.  The reason the port would have happened is because it is automatic following activation.  Has this been resolved now?  If not then please email me the details and I will look into it for you.

Thanks, this issue should now have been resolved so please do let me know if you receive any more.

Edit for clarity: This fixes an issue whereby some Skinny Direct customers received offers directed at Skinny Mobile customers.

I thought 1GB top ups are $10 on skinny direct? According to the website.

I assume that is what is being corrected i.e. Skinny Direct customers receiving alerts with information that is relevant for prepaid Skinny customers.

I just did that and ported over today. Basically they only port your number after you've received the sim and activated it. So you can order it now and request the port and it won't be ported until you physically put the sim in the phone and activate it.

Took them about an hour to port the number after I activated the sim for me. Very impressive service so far!

I signed up and have received my sim. I ran out of my value pack on spark tonight so opened up the sim, and popped it out but I think I've used too much force and broke the sim as when I put it in my phone it said no sim, I also tried it in my old phone and it said no sim as well. I've just sent off a message on the website so I'll see what will happen now. Looks like I might have to top up for use over the weekend now and switch over next week.

Ouch! not good. An alternative would be to buy a skinny sim from a shop, port your Spark number to that, then move your skinny sim over to Skinny direct

Otherwise if you're patient im sure they could send you a new one

Just signed up as my skinny month was ending, after making payment the text confirming activation arrived in under a minute - damn that was fast.

Switched a couple weeks ago..

I think texting is going to be dead for me soon.. no calling limits is awesome..

Data is a good amount, however now that I know I have heaps I'm using heaps.. lol..

Fully recommend Skinny Direct, no network issues yet and works just as good as spark when I was with them..

Kept my phone number and moved to Skinny.. then Skinny Direct..
