THats has to be one of the most rediculous thing I have heard.

You're telling me, that as a CSR, they have the OPTION to remove traffic shaping on BigTime?

Oh come on. I highly doubt Telecom would give that kind of flexibility to a CSR, especially since there isn't an option to remove it, being offered to customers.

I'd happily pay an extra $20 at most for them to remove that cap, but no more. $80 a month for a service that would cost telecom nearly nothing to deliver.

Oh of course, I obviously don't dispute that. BUT, the fact is, they DONT offer that, which is why I said that Telecom would give the CSR's the option to do so.

But it seems this other user mean someone who is not a CSR.

And I'm possitive that Telecom would pick up on this instantly seeming there is no plan offering that to a residential customer, and they would be like, fired instantly I would have thought. Still though, if it is true, where would I contact your friend? lol

I can confirm, it is 100% not possible for any CSR to remove shaping via any method from a Big Time customer, they do not have access to any system capable of doing so (not that one actually exists).

The way traffic management is applied means it is not possible to single out someone on the plan and remove traffic shaping from them.

How do I know this? I am a product manager at Telecom for broadband and it is part of my job to 'look after' this plan.

Thanks for putting that stupid claim to rest, doozy.

Also, have you looked at my account lately to see how far from the exchange I am? You said you were going to get back to me.

Cheers/

I always amazes me when people post about this.  Whether it exists or not, if you are onto a good thing (such as unshaped traffic or free internet through a billing error), why would you post it in public forums for it to be discovered?

Lay low, shut up and enjoy.

Doozy, have you seen this thread: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=50119

I know for a fact the usage meter is telling me lies. And then I read in this thread that some people have 0MB showing for their stats. Meanwhile I'm getting charged 1.5 - 2 times the amount. This doesnt add up..

If Big Time is shaped via a DPI (allot Sandvine etc) it is possible to have different profiles for individual users (smp subscriber management). Profiles can be QOS related, volume etc etc.
