Sigh... the new Telecom modem doesn't seem to work all that well after all. My download speed using SpeedTest doesn't seem to go over about 2000kbps, latency is 150ms+ and upload doesn't break 1000kbps :(

All my Speedtests were performed in Wellington CBD and Lower Hutt on the WorldxChange Comm server in Auckland. Results with other servers are even worse.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

What was the news app mentioned on the last page? I haven't noticed any additional apps, except drive but i think that was unrelated, and added earlier.

Internet.  MMS is OK..  No 3G or H icon when idle.  The only time I see the icon is when I send a MMS..

Hi John,

Sorted.  I went to the Voda  web page and got the internet APN sent to my fone and installed it.  It created a new APN called  VF WEB and the only difference that i can see from the old one is APN type is default .  In the old  APN it was internet.

Speed test is not great 309kbits down and 288 up  compared to out at the Formosa  resort last week where I was getting 9Megbits down and 4 up..  Speed where I work in the CBD has  never been great..

Regards,

Old3eyes

old3eyes: And the answer is Android 4.0.3

But I see this AAp news app has been installed as well. The one that was on Fair Go last nite..
Now to see how to get rid of it..

Care to comment on this application as I didn't see Fair Go.

Good thing about ICS is now you can disable apps, go into settings -> apps, fine the app and click on it, there will be a disable button top right.
It will give some warning about disabling built in app may make others go nuts but you should be fine

Great. I plug my SGS2 into Kies and it just tells me my device can't be upgraded via Kies.

It's rooted, and has run custom ROMs in the past, but is currently running the stock Telecom ROM 2.3.5 ROM - any other options for the upgrade, or shall I just install something else?

You dont happen to be running kies under OS X?
If so, try kies under windows, worked for me for a similar error

Or do what i am about to do and download the firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100T

move the file to your phone and then use mobile odin from the market.
Lets you root the rom as it loads as well

The 'KOR' in the brackets at the end is a giveaway. The CSC (Country sales code) is screwed up, it's set to Korea instead of TNZ (Telecom)
