I am a few days from my billing month but only have 2GB left so will be going over my limit.

It has been so long since I went over my limit i'm not sure if I will be slowed to dialup speeds or charged overage, anyway to find out? I checked your Telecom but can't find anything.

Also how do I change to being charged if I am on the plan to move me to dialup, I really can't be bothered with those slow speeds so need to make sure I will just get charged more, anyway to do it online or do i have to call up?

I thought it was a choice (as part of the plan) as to whether you are slowed or pay overage.  You might have to call 123 to find out what you're on.

It is, you can usually choose I think the default these days is they charge you more where it use to be slowed down to dialup speed, your best bet is to contact them to make sure.

I 'm pretty sure the default is still slow you down rather than charge overage as bill shock isn't something most customers like and they would normally be asked when signing up for the plan they want.  It's a simple call to the Broadband helpdesk on 0800 225 598 (www.telecom.co.nz/contact) and they will be able to tell you.

I always found that if there was only a couple of days to go and I had used all my data allowance I didn't get slowed down.

Might be worth checking your bill because for some bizarre reason the phone line and BB connection do not follow the same billing period (although I wasn't on a total home package at the time so it could be different for these).

When I signed up a few weeks ago to the same total braodband plan, I was never given the option, so I assume by default that I would get slowed down. But I don't expect to use that much data anyway, to get slowed down. It should really show on the plan page though. My previous ISP had a far better control panel for managing broadband, which is odd considering they are a minow compared to telecom which is one of the largest providers.

You can check your usage at www.telecom.co.nz/broadband/usage and login with either your Xtra username, or your "Your Telecom" and check your fixed broadband usage.

FYI
The default is to be slowed down, however, if you look on Your Telecom and look at broadband usage, and the plan name, if it says "Total Home Broadband 60GB Add. Data" you get charged the overage rate rather than slowed down. You can change it online thru Your Telecom or call 123.
